The Hostelz.com Review
I Keu Ken Hostel is a nice little hostel in a fast-developing town that's slightly cursed by tourists arriving to see the Perito Moreno glacier and then disappearing soon afterward.

The Location

It's only fifteen minutes away from the bus station, but its location on a hill and a lack of names on the streets can make it a little tricky to get there. The great view of the surrounding area rewards you once you are there, though. There are other hostels on the main street, but as this area as been developed mainly with well-off tourists in mind, it is sometimes best to stay away.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are of a small-to-average size. There are lockers for bags but not big enough to fit backpacks with any width. There is some light in the rooms, but it generally feels better to spread out in the communal spaces. Bathrooms have plenty of room and are very clean.

Common Spaces

There is a really nice sitting/dining area with wooden floorboards, a constant stream of reggae/Manu Chao (it is no surprise the owner has dreadlocks), and a high ceiling that always gives the feeling of having plenty of space. Outside is a barbecue, which is used on the rare sunny days, and some interesting chairs (made from wood and springs) that are surprisingly comfortable. The kitchen has a cooker in the corner, which makes it harder for any more than one-and-a-half people to cook at any one time.

Summary

There is a really nice atmosphere in this hostel, engendered mainly by the space of the common rooms. As most people are here just for a couple of days, the town is geared towards trying to make as much money from them as possible in that time (this makes it feel like a tourist trap). However, I Keu Ken is a little bit away from this and instead offers suggestions for cheaper things to do and has a more relaxed vibe.

5  By far one of the best hostels that we have stayed in ever! the staff are amazingly helpful and friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate us. Amazing place, very clean, and the dooms are lovely. Fab setting overlooking the lake and a very nice all round atmosphere! Would recommend.  ()
4  The staff were really friendly and helpful at I Keu Ken. They gave great advice about trips and local attractions, and I felt very welcome. The hostel was very clean and well maintained. Take them up on the offer to get a taxi from the bus station as they will pay for it, otherwise it is an uphill walk.  ()
