The Hostelz.com Review
The Litton Lane hostel is located on the banks of the River Liffey about halfway between the Ha'Penny Bridge and the O'Connell Street Bridge. It has an excellent location for walking to all parts of the city center. Don't be fooled by its alley entryway, once you get inside it's bright and cheery.

The walls have been painted with Andy Warhol-like paintings of Bono, The Edge, Sinead O'Connor, and other artists that apparently used to have a recording studio in the same building. The reception area always has music on. The tv lounge is large with big, well-worn couches with lots of seating. There are usually people hanging out watching tv, reading, or browsing some of the many tourist brochures. The kitchen is also large and breakfast is offered in the morning which consists of cereal, toast, and coffee or tea. But you do still have to do your own dishes!

They also offer luggage storage at no charge and you can store valuables behind the front desk. There is a payphone for your use as well. No alcohol or smoking is permitted in the hostel.

The hostels rooms are all up stairs and there isn't an elevator. The rooms are clean and comfortable with plenty of space and natural light. The bathrooms are also clean. The showers, however, barely trickle and the toilets don't always flush due to extremely low water pressure. Also, the toilet stalls are extremely small -- a claustrophobic or a larger person would be very uncomfortable using the facilities.

As the building is rather old, it does have some very squeaky floor boards that can wake you up in the evening. And the metal beds squeal every time you move your big toe. Also, the hostel is located right next door to a traditional Irish pub with a very good sound system. So if you are looking for a fun, clean hostel and plan to be out in the pubs until they close then this is the place for you.

Not too bad.
Great staff, nice and friendly and helpful. Luggages could be left with them even after you've checked out, and important documents or stuff would be kept by them privately, so it's much safer. That being said, the hostel beds themselves were a little scruffy to the eye, and the blankets were definitely not washed for a period of time. Thank goodness they provide top sheets!

What a great place at a great rate! Very friendly and helpful staff -- free luggage storage for your valuables. Wifi what a bonus! Free breakfast to boot! Great spot for easy access to all parts of the city. Couldn't ask for better value for money.

The staff were unfriendly and people came in and were loud late after midnight. The showers on my floor were broken, so that there were four showers in the whole hostel for females!!! The breakfast was okay, I suppose, but that is the best thing I can say about this hostel.

The noisy bar across the street is the worst feature of this place. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was free, there was a kitchen, and a nice big TV lounge. It's a pretty cool place in a good location, but not the greatest place I've ever been.

I stayed in a ten-bed room. Most beds are still prepared with linen. The rooms are large. The toilets are poor (there's only one male and female toilet on each floor) with only two washing basins and two showers on each floor, all in bad condition. One shower was defective, and on the second floor both showers were under construction. You better not think of the confusion and the queue-up if the hostel was full. Breakfast was poor, but you can't expect much for this price. There's a comfortable common room, and very friendly staff. The hostel is in a very central location, but the bar across the street can be very noisy.

I loved the location and the staff were very helpful. The rooms are nice and the bathrooms were ok (clear doors though, so no privacy). The kitchen and breakfast was good - they even had weet-bix!!

The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were nice. It has a good vibe. The showers could use some work, but it looked like they were getting started on it. The kitchen was great. It actually had a professional stove, and had everything you would ever need. I found it very easy to find. The bar across the street can be a bit noisy, but it's not too bad.

First off, the customer service SUCKED! I sat there for a 1/2 hour waiting for the guy to get off the phone. Then he said that I couldn't pay for my room with a credit card because they don't accept them at night. It was pretty quiet and the breakfast was nice. The bathrooms sucked and the place was pretty hard to find. After all that it was an okay hostel, i've stayed in worse.

A super friendly hostel with great staff!!! The people and staff there just make you feel welcome the minute you walk in the door! It's fantastic! I made some great friends in this hostel - which is especially important when you are travelling alone! The hostel is very clean, fun, and full of character! I will stay here again and again and again...

After travelling around Europe my last stop was Dublin and Litton Lane Hostel. I have to say that the staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. The hostel itself was clean, comfortable and right in the heart of Dublin. I made some good friends with other guests that were staying and I plan to go back next summer!

We stayed two nights in this hostel, and it was fabulous!! I only wish we'd had time to stay longer. It was the best hostel breakfast we had the entire trip, the staff was super-friendly and helpful, the place was clean and the guests were nice, and I cannot speak well enough of the bathrooms. EXCELLENT hostel!

Well, this was my first stay in a hostel...and what an experience! To start, my friend and I came in from Killarney for an overnight trip to Dublin. We were very excited to stay in the hostel. We checked in and went to check out the rooms. I was dissapointed by the lack of numbering systems on our beds...we were in a ten bed room, and it looked pretty full. We assumed that we had the last two beds in the room, because other beds had clothes or personal items on them. One of the beds was great, the other was unmade and had a few hairs on it...so, we asked the receptionist again if we had the correct beds...she said we did. We came back to the hostel after exploring dublin around midnight...hung out in the lounge area and headed to bed around one. I took the bed that was unmade because my friend would not have it. well, after three a gentleman came in and started crawling into bed with me...said that this was his bed. I woke my friend up and we were laughing hysterically! So, we went down to the desk and explained the situation to a new clerk (a male who was much more friendly). He was very apolegetic and moved us to an eight bed room by ourselves. I met some outstanding people at this hostel and had a great time with a few bumps in the road. I just wish for them to better number the beds!

I just wanted to say that this hostel was a lovely place!!!!! I had a great time in the city thanks to the kindness of everyone there! I am only sad that I couldn't stay longer. Maybe next time.
