Achmelvich Beach Hostel

Achmelvich SYHA is situated in a remote and rural area with stunning coastal scenery and beaches that seem to be taken straight from an island holiday brochure. Although simple, the old school house hostel provides all that is needed for a relaxing holiday away from it all. The kitchen is well-equipped as there are very few options for eating outside. The only local eatery is the fish and chip shop, however four miles away in Lochinver there is an award winning gourmet pie restaurant and a well-appointed pub with views along the stream to the loch.

The ladies dorm is in a newer annex slightly separate from the kitchen/dining/reception and male dorms. Four bed rooms are separated by curtains to make up the main dorm. It has its own toilet and basins with the hostel shower being located between the two buildings it can be on the chilly side. Some of the rooms in the hostel can be used as family or private rooms. Everything is kept spotless and clean throughout the hostel.

What this hostel lacks in modern furnishings and style it certainly makes up for in it's positioning. Nothing but grass and hills and the beach are nearby. The sunset is amazing, as are the stars. Fabulous walks are numerous. White sand beaches with aqua clear water are plenty. And it is most likely that one will be all to yourself, just a few steps from the hostel's front door. Achmelvich SYHA hostel is a must if you appreciate these things.
