Description
Ideally placed for exploring to the east or the west, Loch Ness Youth Hostel is situated halfway along the banks of the infamous Loch Ness. Only 40 minutes from the newly-created city of Inverness and about two hours from the Isle of Skye, there's plenty to do in the area. The Great Glen long distance path passes the door, and the end-to-end Great Glen cycling route is nearby. From the Hostel there is easy access to the loch shore, and you will have plenty of opportunities for Nessie - watching from most of the bedrooms. You can also take a picture together with our own hostel Nessie down at the beach. Or why not having a walk up the hills close to the hostel with a great view around Loch Ness to spot its famous resident? Our well-appointed and brilliantly equipped kitchen is ideal for culinary experimentation and our little hostel shop has basic tinned foods, snacks and drinks for sale. Also don't miss: the Official and the Original Monster Exhibition Centres in Drumnadrochit (15km) Urquhart Castle & visitor centre, sitting impressively on the edge of Loch Ness (10km) Jacobite Cruises from/to Inverness and Urquhart Castle - Tomnahurich Bridge (40km) The Clansman Centre, Fort Augustus (15km) Scotsman Cruises, and Fort Augustus (15km). And lastly, if you want to get away from everything, head up to Glen Affric and walk this stunning area with its native forests and waterfalls and Munros. Internet access at the Hostel. Private rooms available.

this is one of the best hostels i have stayed before.the location is perfect for walkers along great glen way as this hostel is located about 4 miles north to invermoriston. this will cut the time you need for the walk to drumnadrochit by about 1.5-2 hours. you can use this time to explore the Urquhart Castle when you reach drumnadrochit. its a shame that i did not spend more time in this hostel and exploit its location just right beside Loch Ness. it has a nice, antique feeling dining hall/common room.

It was a very peaceful experience. It is a bit removed from everything, but that's what I was seeking. Make a note to visit the market on your way in to stock up on groceries. Buses run fairly often, so that is handy. Amazing hiking and wonderful views of Loch Ness from your room window. I would without a doubt stay at this hostel again.

Right by the Loch shore, good kitchen. Not sign-posted from Great Glen Way, which was a problem for us walkers.
