The Hostelz.com Review
The staff at Affittacamere Patrizia does everything possible to make guests comfortable -- the rooms are clean and the location (in the first town of the famed Cinque Terre hike) is ideal. We absolutely recommend it.

The Location

This hostel is spread across several apartments over the city. From the train station, the hostel's main office is up the main hill and from the main office the rooms a substantial hike away. Staircases on the side of the hill, slopes, and staircases inside the apartment complex lead each guest to their own stunning views of Rio Maggiore, Italy -- the first of the Cinque Terre towns. The hostel's location inside of apartments amidst the town gives each guest the feeling of locality and offers easy navigation back down the hill to the main street, train station, and start of the breathtaking Cinque Terre hike.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Each room is outfitted with its own lock and each apartment building locks as well, making the hostel doubly secure. Whether you are in a two-person, private double-bed room (there are no two-person, private single-bed rooms) or a four-person dorm, the rooms will be clean and full of character with their older wooden furnishings and the striking views out each window. There are two spacious bathrooms in each complex that are shared with three other rooms. We never had a problem using the bathrooms or showers when we needed to.

Common Spaces

Because the hostel is a series of apartments there are no real common areas and no kitchens. You may run into other hostelers exiting the building or at the main office, where there is also a book exchange shelf, but for the most part in this hostel you are cut off from anyone else.

Summary

The stunning views afforded from our balcony are enough to bring us back to this hostel for a second round. Every night we found ourselves trekking back up to enjoy wine on the terrace as the sun set over us. The clean rooms, helpful staff, and most of all those views make this hostel well worth visiting.
