The Hostelz.com Review
A really clean hostel, brightly coloured with a great large kitchen and seating area. Sheila's is a 10-minute walk North of the bus station. The tall smokestack is a good waypoint for finding the way. Although a bit antiquated, the hostel is very clean.
The hostel is spread over a few floors so get in early so you do not need to climb to many steps. And be sure to search around for the best bathrooms! The lower level restroom facilities tend to be better than the upper levels. The kitchen has everything one would ever need. Plenty of pots, pans, and counter space for when it gets busy.
The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. There is a great TV room with a huge 34cm TV and plenty of comfy chairs to sit on. But when you are in Cork the last thing you should do is watch TV when the pubs are all so close.
This hostel is used by some of the tour companies passing through Cork so it can get full very quickly. The dorm rooms all have new beds that are very comfortable but the rooms can get a little crowded if everybody tries to stand at the same time. The rooms are fairly average with the usual hostel musty smell, but for the price, you can't complain.

Great! Sheila's is everything you need. Friendly and knowledgeable staff during the day -- a bit sullen at night, but they do their jobs well. Clean, convenient, and comfortable. — Jason , American (2009-11-02)

Pretty good beds were fine, security is great, reception people are very helpful and friendly, location is good. The Wi-Fi only works in the internet room in front of the hostel, not in your rooms. You have to pay $3 for breakfast, which isn't much. The doors slam shut. Overall, it was fine. I would probably stay here again. — MG , USA (2009-06-13)

great place, awesome staff, with stuff for sale in reception (because nothing in reland is open after 11). computers are pricey though. everything was super clean. just beware the showers -- they have high pressure, and are cold at first, so the first time you push the button, wrap the shower curtain around you so you stay dry, then the pipes will prime with warm water. price was okay but i think maybe it was a scam. "oh we don't have any of those rooms available anymore, but you can get this for 3 euro more." they were upselling i thought. — Love that dirty water... (2006-12-05)
The bedrooms are overcrowded, the bedding smells musty, and worst of all it's just to noisy for a decent nights sleep. Doors banging, hoards of teenagers who couldn't seem to shut their mouths and suffer from hyperactivity. Which to add insult to injury I had to pay seventeen euros a night -- it's a dump. — Gingerwill (2006-07-17)

I stayed for five days; it was cheap and clean. It has a wicked cinema room with lots of beanbags. It could do with more movies though, but it was new at the time. I would recommend it to anyone. It's also near the city center and you get discount at the local pub, which is handy!! — Mel (2005-09-07)

A big hostel near the city center with everything: sauna (2€), barbecue, a big kitchen and friendly staff but our bedroom was very small... — Pippo, Italy (2005-08-12)

Very comfortable and tidy hostel — particularly the bedrooms. The bathrooms need a facelift and the kitchen needs more crockery/china. The staff are more than friendly. — Anonymous (2005-06-03)
We lost our booking confirmation number. So we e-mailed Sheila's to confirm that we still had our booking. They said it was all sweet and they were expecting us. When we rocked up they then told us we did not have a booking. The woman at the front desk was helpful and found us accommodation elsewhere, which was much nicer. — Anonymous (2005-03-28)

The hostel was clean, and the people were really nice and helpful, but the room was narrow and cramped and it's not as near the city center as I would have liked. But other than that, I really have no complaints :) — Aida (2004-10-02)

Sheila's was clean and ok. The girl on the reception was kind and we had a good night there. — Scott (2004-03-31)

Though this hostel is not as close to the city's center as one would like, it is very clean, safe and comfortable. — Anonymous (2003-12-01)

Stayed there for New Year's. Great relaxed vibe, friendly staff, good facilities and close to the centr of Cork. One of the best I've stayed in so far! — Aussie on tour (2003-01-11)
