5  One of the highlights of our 2005 trip to Ireland. We are in our 50's, this is the first hostel we ever stayed at. We has a blast! It's a true hostel with a community kitchen, showers, and a great room with fireplace where everyone from all over the world sat and shared travel stories. It had its own stone pub built off the side of the farmhouse where local musician's would gather for a pint or two and we often ended up enjoying an impromptu night of entertainment. An added bonus was that since the hostel owned the pub they could stay open until the last stragglers left. Still talk about it and so glad we found the place.  , USA ()
5  Location Excellent, Staff very friendly, facilities spotless. Stayed here a few months back July 2008. Have to say it was one of the best weekends ive had in a long time. From the moment we arrived at the hostel we were made to feel very welcome by the barman Pat at the time. As soon as we arrived we headed for the bar (as you do). The valley has a great homey atmosphere with the fire light for most of the day and it's just very cosy. At night they have two or three people who play traditional Irish music, which I personally thought was the best thing about the hostel and something which I looked forward to every night, also one of the musicians was a fantastic guitar player and just in general a really down to earth guy. The dorms in the hostel were a bit cold at night time but if you're coming in late at night after having a few jars you generally forget about being cold. Achill Island has so many activities and places to visit that the Valley is in the perfect spot to suit everyone's needs. All in all a fantastic hostel and highly recommended for meeting new people!  , Ireland ()
5  My favorite place on this Earth.  ()
