The Hostelz.com Review
Adamotel is a good price and a great location. It's a short walk from Gloucester Road Station, which is in zone one of the tube, and will save you money on pricey London transport. It's also a nice walk to Kensington Gardens and onto Notting Hill. The area is close to shops, cafes, and pubs. There is a very large supermarket just at the end of the street.

The hostel is quite new and has really nice facilities. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and it's a good place to meet other travellers. The dorm beds are not bunk beds, which means the rooms have a lot of floor space per person. The beds are not the comfiest, but they do the job. Every room also has a sink. The rooms are cleaned daily and sheets and towels are provided free of charge. The toilets are also clean and are joined with the showers. Some of the bathrooms also have baths, which is a very pleasant change from the endless showers you come across whilst backpacking.

The kitchen is very small and some guests seem too lazy to clean up after themselves. There is a dishwasher, but when it is full and not clean, there are very few dishes left in the kitchen. There is a nice bright dining area with plenty of space, and breakfast is also free. There is a good selection of cereals, toast and juice. There is also a really nice courtyard for when the weather is nice. The lounge room is comfy and clean with a great flat screen TV. The staff will put on a movie on request which can make for a nice relaxing evening. There is a computer with free internet as well as free wireless connection.

At the time of staying, there were some renovations occurring that caused temporary interruptions to hot water and power on some floors. However it was usually short lasting and not a major inconvenience.

1  Not good! My friend and I rented a private room on the fourth floor (which is pretty far with heavy suitcases and no elevator). Our private room included a bathroom. When we got there, the receptionist told us the lock was coming loose from the door. A moment later, she knocked on our door asking if we minded it being fixed. So when we got home that evening to the hotel, the lock was even more broken than before and no one had replaced the padlock (padlock?) on the door. The bathroom we'd paid to have to ourselves had hair in the sink and shower and muddy footprints on the floor. When I asked about it the next morning, the best she could muster was "I have to do everything myself around here." Frankly, I think we should have been discounted since we couldn't even shut the door to the bathroom and every five minutes, a guest from another room was slamming the door trying to close it. Awful. I will never go back to this place. Besides our issues, it's really rundown and yucky.  , Canada ()
4  Excellent location, clean environment The hostel is situated in a nice and convenience location. It is close to tube station and twenty-four-hour supermarket. It has restaurants and self service laundry around, plus post office and KFC. The lady in charge of cleansing and kitchen was straight but nice. Breakfast room was cleaned and set before open at 8 a.m. sharp every morning. There was only one PC in the common room for internet access. However WIFI was quite handy if you had your notebook with you. The bin in room was emptied everyday. The share shower rooms and toilets were clean plus full of hot water and toilet rolls. The only criticism I can think of is my room did not have table and chair. It may be because the room is too small to fit in these facilities.  , Hong Kong ()
2  Ugh. Perhaps the upstairs rooms were better, but my partner and and I were in a dingy basement room. I had a rude awakening in the morning when I went to the restroom and stepped in a huge puddle of water surrounding the toilet. In the evening, the receptionist left for a good forty-five minutes, while at least three different groups came to check-in.  , USA ()
5  Me and my girlfriend, who as oppose to me never stayed in a hostel before, came to Adamotel not knowing what to expect because we didn't think that a hostel located in such a central location could offer relatively low rates. First of all and most important (and my very neat and clean girlfriend will approve) the place is very clean, toilets, showers, and kitchen. many thanks to the lovely Ludmila, the housekeeper and the motherly spirit of Adamotel, who always went the extra mile when we came late back from work and opened the kitchen for us even after hours. One of the biggest fears when you're gonna stay in a hostel is a dodgy staff, the staff in Adamotel is young, extremely nice, and patient. The rooms are basic, beds, lamp. and a sink. we stayed in a twin bed room, and it was pretty spacious (and clean). Breakfast is included, which is always great. At some point there were some problems with the hot water (by now it's already fixed) and Christina the manager compensated us for the few days we couldn't take a shower. The location is great! We stayed there for an entire month and we almost didn't have to use the tube, which is a five-minute walk from there, within a reasonable walking distance we could reach the major museums, Leicester Square, Buckingham, Piccadilly, and all the major city centre attractions. In Earl's Court, three-minute walk from the hostel, you'll find bars, restaurants and all that. There is also a big supermarket two minutes' walk from there, which was also convenient. The guests were also really nice, you can say Adamotel is not your typical teenager party hostel, but if you can manage living without a built-in gym, cinema, and bar, Adamotel is much more than recommended.  , Israeli ()
1  This place was disgusting. When we arrived there were builders smoking in our room. The lockers were not secure. When we got back in the evening our room smelt of wet paint. The bed was breaking and squeaked. There wasn't anywhere to get a drink. It was really scummy -- I've stayed in much better hostels in London for the same price.  ()
5  Definitely one of the best hostels in London. Its set in a huuuuuuuuge townhouse about 1 minute from gloucester road tube station and 5 minutes walk from hyde park. Its in kensington which is one of the most fancy places in london. Theres zero crime here and you feel safe walking around at night. Chelsea and knightsbridge are also walking distance if you want to see how the other half live. The rooms are very spacious with no bunks and 12ft old style ceilings. Yeh there are a lot of gay guys here but theyre all pretty sweet and harmless - if your a 'phobe you might want to look elsewhere really. The price is also amazing - £12 a night on weekly rates. The free breakfast is also pretty good - free cereals, yoghurt, crumpets OJ, and coffee. The staff are mostly south african and seem ok even if they do spend more time chatting with their buddies in the lounge than staying in the office. Only complaint is that theres no lift! With 6 floors it kind of sucks if youve got a lot of luggage. Best bit? The wireless high speed internet!  ()
2  This hostel is in a nice location but it was full of homosexuals. I felt like they were always preying on me and flaunting themselves. You just couldnt avoid it. If you are more on the conservative side, this is not the place for you! Also, the wireless internet did not work!  ()
