If you just want to stay somewhere for a few nights, this is not the place to do it. They advertise themselves more as budget longterm living than a travel youth hostel. The first night I was in a room with 3 other girls who had been living there for months and were fighting amongst eachother. My boyfriend on the other hand was put in a room with immigrants from India, one was in his 30s, while another was way into his 50s. He said it was also really awkward and uncomfortable. Apparently the two had been living there for quite sometime and were fighting as well. Although they have a tv room, it was locked at night, so there were giant groups of people just sitting in the hallways and stair wells drinking and smoking. Because you can smoke in the stairwells, cigarettes were littered all over the steps. When we came back to regina a day later (we would have changed hostels, but we already had reservations and they'd keep our money if we didn't show up), none of the cigarettes were cleaned up that had been there for our first stay. This time, my room was on the 4th floor (when the ceilings are 12 feet high with no lift, it felt more like 8 floors up) and my boyfriend was then moved into an enitrely different building 2 blocks down into the basement. Also, they don't have internet there like was advertised, you have to go to an internet cafe down the street. I won't be all negative, though. Reginia is truley a 3 minute walk to the Gloucester road metro station and close to few musuems. They did offer both breakfast and dinner (on the weekends lunch instead) for free, but the plates weren't cleaned well and the food was poor, so we ended up eating out anyway. Its a shame because with some building upkeep, it could have been a really nice hostel. However, once again, if you plan on staying only a few days, this isn't a good place to do it. Its hard to meet people when they live there somewhat permenantly and its really awkward in the rooms depending the drama of the long term residents.
Also something that made me REALLY uncomfortable is that the desk took my passport. One the site, it said we only needed to present it, however, they held onto it during the length of my stay. They won't give you your keys unless you do this, so I didn't really have a choise but to give it up. I don't know about anyone else's opinions, but I personally don't like the idea of being separated with something so important. — Jen (2007-05-16)

Friendly staff more than makes up for all the minor inconveniences, like no pillow (usually there are pillows, I guess mine got left off), dirty in general, toilets don't flush. but if you consider the fact that for about 10 pounds I got a night sleep breakfast and dinner, and a friendly staff to go along with it in a great location, I think it's really value for money. You're only going to be sleeping there anyway. — Veronika , Hungary (2007-04-21)
Hi, I have lived 4 months in this hostel. The location is very good, but the food is awful, the building is quite old and not beautiful.
I met wonderful people although, that's why I remained there for so long.

This hostel is not so good, but the people are amazing. — Luis (2004-11-12)

I lived in this hostel for six months. It's a good place to stay for a few days, but for a long term it's quite poor. The building is old and the food served is quite repetitive. — Anonymous (2004-10-26)
