Cool place, but definitely not the best hostel I've ever stayed
This hostel was in former times a school or maybe a cot for animals. Its old and not in very good conditions. The patio is nice and big. Coloured in red and with plants. You have a nice view from the roof, where the hammocks are located. There is no oven. You can just find two portable cooking plates, which is not enough for a hostel with thirty or more people. Also three bathrooms are not sufficient for a hostel in this size! The staff are friendly and helpful.

Great
Evelyn, the owner, is amazing -- nothing is too much trouble for her. The other staff are also good (especially Christina) and the breakfasts are delicious -- freshly squeezed orange juice and all. It's a great little place with a lovely courtyard and very friendly and chilled out. My only negatives are that its near the dodgy area of town so not the safest area after town (although its fine if you know where you're going) and the front dorm gets a lot of traffic noise. Otherwise, highly recommended and I¨d definitely stay here again.

Highly recommended!
Arequipay Backpackers is one of the best hostels on our trip (and we travel for nine months). the rooms are clean, the kitchen, and the nice chillout room with DVD and free internet is perfect to hang out. We had a great time at this hostel and Evelyn is really helpful with everything and the free breakfast with fresh orange juice is the highlight! So we really recommend this hostel to have a save and good time in Arequipa. Enjoy!

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Clean and safe.
I had a great experience at Arequipay Backpackers. Evelyn is amazingly helpful. The place is kept very clean and is safe. Nice little chill out room as well. DVDs and music. A great place to relax and enjoy the city. Can't recommend it enough.

Lovely!
This is probably the friendliest hostel i have stayed in since i have been in south america! I arrived after having to walk ten kilometers from the bus due to bus strikes and road blocks, and all i wanted was a friendly face and a hot shower -- and i got both and more! comfy beds, a nice kitchen, free tea and coffee all day, and really helpful tour and bus information! Fantastic!

Very helpful
Nothing is too much trouble. friendly and welcoming. Rooms are basic, but have a bed which is all you need. Good kitchen and selection of DVDs is immense.

Welcoming
This is a little gem near the Plaza de Armas. Evylin is warm and welcoming, nothing's too much trouble. The breakfast is good (see homemade strawberry jam, yum!), double bed was very comfy complete with beautiful views. There's also a wide range of cheap trips you can book through here, but for lazy days check out the wicked DVD collection. Definitely a great place to stay.

Very good chilled out place. Owners are very friendly and helpful plus it helps being able to book the bus directly from the hotel/hostel. Stayed in extremely spacious dorm all to myself. Close to the main plaza and within walking distances of most of the main sites. Free coffee all day! highly recommended.

We found this hostel after traveling for two weeks and staying in cramped, noisy, unhelpful places, and what a difference it made! The rooms are great, spacious, and with beds, not bunks (well at least in our three-bed room). it has a sunny courtyard to chill out in, and a small cosy living room to watch TV/DVDs. It's so close to the Plaza de Armas, that if you feel like partying you don't have far to go. Delicious breakfast as well. All in all, its a quiet, comfortable place, and Evelyn is amazing, she really goes the extra mile, nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended!

the breakfast was really great, the location also, but the rooms suck.

Yep, definitely the best hostel we have stayed in in South America. You know you feel at home when you cant remember where you took your shoes off and left them. Love this place.

We found this hotel by chance and it was the best thing that could happen to us. We have been on the road for ten months now, and for sure it is one of the best hotels we stayed in. Evelyn and her mother are more than welcoming and always there for anything you need. Besides, this is one good place to make some good friends along the way or just enjoy the company if you are travelling alone by yourself. To make it short, this place is outstanding, a delight. You should see by yourself and make your own minf, but for us it is a blast!

Definitely the best hostel we've ever stayed in. The owners are extremely friendly, and make it feel a lot like home. It has everything you could want, good location, comfortable and clean beds, great service, and above all, clean washrooms. I find it impossible to say anything bad about this hostel, and i'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Arequipa.
