Hostel Uimahallin Maja is a nice place a half a kilometer away from the city center -- just follow the main street west until you reach a park with a church in the middle. Walk through the park to the end, and the hostel is across the street to the right, by the swimming hall.
The building is clean and well-maintained. The dorm rooms have about six beds in them -- none of which are bunked -- along with an area for storage, a table and chairs, and two sinks. Singles and doubles are also available. The bathrooms are clean, although a little bit small. A kitchen is available, as are some couches on each floor. Security is excellent, with several locked doors between the outside and the rooms. The reception will check your bags if you'd like them to. The hostel appears to be a bit quiet, but not excessively so.
Linen is included in the price of a bed, and a decent breakfast can be purchased for about five euros (to be paid the night before). A cafe is on the second floor of the building, with rooms above that. The lift only operates when the reception is open.
The hostel is a Key Hostel (www.keyhostels.com), and discounts are available if you are not an HI member but have picked up a discount card from another Key Hostel.
