The Hostelz.com Review
The Location
Sakura Hostel Asakusa is located in Asakusa -- it is a ten-minute walk from the subway station, and only a few minutes walk to several restaurants and shopping areas. Also it's almost around the corner of Temple, there is a huge shopping area around there with souvenirs, places to eat, a tourist information center, and everything you might need.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are very comfortable, the mattresses are thin but really good, so it is guaranteed that you will have a good night of sleep. There is air con in every room, as well as lockers and night lamps for every bed. The place is really clean and fresh. The hostel has several floors and there is a bathroom with toilets on each floor, one for females and another one for males. They are always very clean.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a huge common area were you can meet a lot of people. The kitchen is a little small but there are a lot of tables and a lot of computers for use for a fee (if you have your own laptop, you get free Wi-Fi). There is also a big TV, and only one couch -- so it can be a little crowded. There is also a little bar, that the staff serves drinks, they also sell a few plates -- basic but good -- and they also offer a nice and cheap breakfast (all you can eat).
Summary
The staff are extremely helpful -- they will go an extra mile trying to help you. They offer free luggage storage, which is available twenty-four hours. The staff speak fluent English, so you should not have any problems.

Outstanding staff The staff are what make Sakura hostel perhaps Tokyo's best. They helped me not only with information about Tokyo but also with transportation to other parts of Japan. Being the largest hostel in Tokyo and tending to attract a younger crowd, the hostel can get busy at times and the rooms are a little small, but the location is excellent and the price is right. When I go back to Tokyo I will definitely stay there again. — Anthony , USA (2010-08-18)

Best hostel in Tokyo! Great hostel! The beds were nice and comfortable. The installations are relatively new and everything is kept clean and neat. Additionally, the hostel has lockers in each room which I found very helpful, there is no fee to use it, just bring a lock. Also, The staff is very friendly and helpful, they spoke english, and one of the members even spoke spanish which i found really cool. Next time i go to Tokyo, I am totally staying in this hostel. — Jenny , Peruvian (2007-10-24)

Friendly, relaxed, and great location it was a really great place to stay. i traveled solo and didn't feel out of place, everyone was really friendly. the rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and comfortable, and you're just round the corner from temple/market and shops. i definitely recommend staying here. — sophie , uk (2007-06-22)

Very good place to go!
Staff very friendly and available, cheap breakfast, rooms and bathrooms clean, hostel well located in a calm but lovely district.
Avoid the 8 bed rooms if you can but it is not very spacy but he 6 bed ones are very OK.
Definitely the best hostel i've been in in Japan. — Julien , France (2007-05-15)

Stay at this hostel! Very clean, great staff, and good location. I stayed here in early February. It is only a subway ride away from anywhere in the city. Probably the best value for accommodation in Tokyo. I'm coming back in June and will be happy to stay here again. — Jason C (2007-03-06)

I'm at Sakura Hostel for a week and can say that the facilities here are great, the price is fantastic, and the people are friendly. The only downside is that it is extremely difficult to find. Because it is new, not many locals know about it and I had one taxi driver scratching his head even when I showed a map with pictures and the address in Japanese. He dropped me off in the general area. If you're like me and terrible with maps, you'll have to find the hostel again and again due to the confusing state of the shops, roads, and lack of any real signage besides the big Sakura sign that is only noticeable at night. This is the only downside though. Definitely value for money! — James Hogan (2006-08-29)

Stayed in this hostel for 3 nights in Aug 2006. I enjoyed staying here, because the hostel is in a really good location; Asakusa is a nice suburb of Tokyo to chill out in. In terms of meeting people, this hostel is reasnoable, its more of a chilled out vibe, don't go expecting a party. Staff speak english. Only drawback, rooms are a bit small. Overall recommended. — Adam from England (2006-08-18)
