The Hostelz.com Review
Equator Hostel is well located on Lorong 1/77A, which is on the road running past the west entrance of the huge Berjaya Times Square shopping complex. The directions provided by the hostel upon booking are very reliable.

The hostel itself is based on three floors. The ground floor houses the common area, reception, the dining area, and kitchen. The upper two floors have a variety of singles, doubles, triples, and the quad dorm rooms. The hostel, although quite an old structure, is clean and newly decorated. It has stone walls and floors and is of good condition. The hostel unfortunately doesn't have any air-con, although the rooms are airy and have large, open vents above the doors. Remember your mosquito repellent as they find you particularly tasty! On one side of the building, on the second and third floors are open verandas where the shower and toilet rooms reside. There are also a few rooms here -- and these can get noisy due to the streets below (ask for a front facing room when you book).

The hostel has ample facilities. There is a laundry service, breakfast of tea, coffee, cornflakes, and toast are included in the room rates, and if you have forgotten yours, there is free use of shower gels/shampoos. The common area has TV, DVDs, two computers with internet, and a small reference/exchange library. The staff can arrange onward travel and a variety of tours. There is lots of seating inside the hostel as well as outside, overlooking the streets below, so there are lots of opportunity to meet fellow travelers.

The hostel is very secure. There are lockers in all the rooms (even the private rooms) and there is a large gate separating the courtyard from the street. This pleasant, friendly hostel is a great base for a couple of days while you explore the city.

Great!
I don't have words to describe this hostel, it is just perfect! We had a great time here and I still miss this place so much. Hardy is an angel, no doubt about that! Everything about Equator is so good, right from the ambiance to each and every detail of the hostel. You will come across some really nice and friendly people, there are a couple of places where you can sit and chat and you get this truly "international" feeling, you come across a number of people from different parts of the world. The Christmas party at Equator was fun! The kitchen is nice and useful, breakfast is great, bathrooms and toilets are absolutely clean, the place is really looked after! Hardy helped us organize our trip and really helped us during times of difficulty. And you know so well, the next time we come to Kuala Lumpur, it has to be Equator again and always!

Really great hostel!
I loved Equator Hostel. The hostel is very clean and very charming. The decor is great. The rooms are tidy and spotless, beds are comfortable, and showers/toilets are clean! Location is good as well, right next to the Monorail stop, so you can get to everywhere and the hostel is really easy to get to. It's also located right next to the ten-story Time Square shopping mall, so everything you need you can get there! Very convenient! The staff is really friendly and very sincere about it! They're not nice to you because they have to, it's because they really want to! They will either chill and drink with you at the hostel or take you out in town! I did both when I was there. And so if you are in KL, stay in this hostel! You won't regret it!

Had a fantastic stay! It being for just one night, but still. Like mentioned before, super friendly staff, clean rooms, and a great location. Air con would have completed the place.

Just had a wonderful week in this hostel. A fantastic location in Kuala Lumpur, just opposite Times Square. The staff were not only wonderfully friendly and helpful, they were sincere and knowledgeable. So clean too with clean towels and sheets provided. Despite being so central, I felt so safe staying there, the hostel is very secure and a staff member was always around to chat to. Thank you all for a memorable stay -- I will be returning very soon!

I stayed in this hostel for three nights and it's a great place. Clean four-bed dorms, hot showers, free breakfast, free coffee and tea all day, internet access including wireless and great lounge area. A friendly hostel -- it's a good place to meet people and the staff are super-nice. Location wise it's close to the main shopping centres with the nearest having a food court and close to the monorail so you can pretty much get anywhere you want in KL.

I thought this place was great! Small dorm rooms, you don't have twenty-five people coming in and out at night. Wireless internet, lockers, and breakfast! The staff is amazing and knows the area very well. They can direct you easily to all the sites and destinations beyond Kuala Lumpur. The place is very clean and safe. I will be staying here again.

This place is great. New, clean, simple rooms with clean, modern shared bathrooms. The common areas are great, with a massive telly, a ton of DVDs, and loads of breakfast and snackage. More like a backpackers' in Australia than the usual places in Asia. The staff are really friendly, helpful, and a good laugh. They went out of their way to help us out and make sure we had a good time. The location is really good too, right next to a huge shopping centre with a cheap supermarket and a rollercoaster (no really), and five minutes from the monorail.
