Awful This is the worst hostel I've stayed in so far. It had no good points. The owners made me and the other traveler I shared with feel unwelcome. They don't want you to be in the building between 10 am and 4 pm. I once came back about 2 pm and they asked me "Why are you here?" They told me to leave.
The downstairs was filthy, but the bedrooms were acceptable. There was only one male toilet, one female toilet and one shower in the whole property, and they were dirty. Not to mention that you could only use the shower during designated hours. The beds were clean enough, but otherwise uncomfortable. The 11 pm curfew sounds reasonable -- many hostels lock the door around that time, but what they don't tell you is that they want you to be in bed asleep at 11 pm! There's no wi-fi, except for Softbank customers, and the computer is limited to 15 minutes per person, which is not enough time to read your emails and reply. The place was heated with kerosene heaters, which of course meant it stinks of paraffin inside. Avoid. — ABC , Canada (2012-03-19)
Asian travellers beware This hostel is a great place to experience discrimination! While Caucasian guests are treated nicely (I think that's why it is described as "friendly" and "years of helping travelers" in the guidebooks), Asian travelers (especially from developing countries) are treated like trash! This is the first hostel I've ever known that the fee you pay is for between check-in and check-out time only! Which means even though you stay there for a few continuous days, you must leave the hostel between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! Oh, did I forget to mention that they only have one shower for the whole hostel? With "many people are waiting" as a reason, they will bang on the door loudly and ask you to get out if you stay in the shower for more than ten minutes. In my case, it the husband owner who did that and for God-know reason, he just stayed there in front of the shower door when I got dress. Another thing I wonder if it is considered sexual harassment is that the husband owner just opened the door and looked into my room whenever he felt like it. Well, even though I stayed in a dorm room, but it's still female room (Err, is it?), I think he doesnt have the right to! He did knock, though, but opened the door like half a second later! And as mentioned above, both the husband and wife owner treated Asian traveler poorly! I did pay money, at the same price as any guests in their hostel did, but they treated me as an undesired free-loader! As I thought my experience at this hostel could not get any worse, in the last day, when I checked out and came back later to get my luggage stored there, I got to know that they were still nice (I'm being sarcastic) to me during fee-charging time! Want to use the toilet? No. Want help to show the way to a good noodle shop? No. The wife just told me "Just get your luggage and go away!" Thanks to this hostel, I got a very bad experience at Nagasaki. My advice, If you are Caucasian, this place is more than welcome. If you are from Asia, especially developing countries, stay away from this place, or at least Speak English (my mistake to speak Japanese to them), it will make them respect you a little more. — Kawaiinu (2009-03-28)
