Description
This hostel is a historic hotel that accommodates all different types of guests. We are a hotel not just a hostel, but we have private rooms that you can stay in, the hostels are mostly always available but is still wise to reserve. We provide an open kitchen that opens from 6 AM-10 PM all week, we provide a stove, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, and for food we provide hamburgers & hotdogs, eggs and cereal all day long for free 2 per guest at a time, and there is a supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away from the hotel if you want someting else. The hostels are bunkbeds 4 in each room mens & womens (not together), there is no lockers, but we have NEVER had a problem with peoples stuff , T.V. included with cable. The bathrooms are down the hall one is upstairs and 1 downstairs the hostels are all downstairs. the private rooms have their own bathrooms. all privates have 2 beds in them and T.V.

Should not be rated as is too poor The hotel house keeper attempted to improperly touch me while extremely intoxicated. I went back 3 weeks later and the house keeper was still employed and exposed himself while urinating in front of myself and other hotel guests ... to include children. It's a beautiful historical house, all inhabitants are friendly, as well as knowledgeable about local attractions such as Colorado National monument, rooms are affordable and clean. Made a reservation for a shared room in advance and was given the code for the front door since I arrived after 9pm. I let myself in and ended up having the room 11 to myself. Bed was comfy enough, and sheets were clean. It would have been a little less comfy if the other two beds had been occupied. I left early Monday morning and didn't see anyone. The shower could be cleaner, but it was ok. For $27.66, it was a good night. I only saw 2 other people the entire evening, but I didn't hang out in the common areas or kitchen at all. It's the roughest hostel/hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms were of a poor standard. One the second day, somebody thoughtfully left a turd in the corridor outside the rooms. A mystery dog got the blame, but we certainly didn't see any dogs. However, we could keep our bikes in the rooms and we were only a minute's walk from the Rockslide brewpub! Hopefully, they refurbished the hotel since then. — Andy , British (2008-11-04) Great i called and made a reservation -- the woman was very nice. i guess her family runs the place or something. this web page actually isnt theirs that they set up so the prices are different. the private room is actually $55.65 usa currency but made no difference. they are a hotel/hostel so they do things a little different from other hotels i have been to. i got there around 9 and the place has security systems and i felt safe! they were especially nice to me -- they had coffee in the morning and a big kitchen that everyone can use. they provide free food to guests -- they just have to make it themselves, which was cool. the room was very homelike and beautiful. there back patio had lots of flowers and kind guests. they do not allow alcohol or drugs and i could tell right away they actually cared who came in and out of the hotel! i had a blast in grand junction and they made my stay very nice! — shelly , america (2008-07-28) I stayed here for two -- eehhhh, one night, Nov. 2005 and had a great time but -- I called ahead to book a bed in a dorm and gave my credit card number. My train from denver had a delay of eight hours so i called again to say i would not arrive before midnight. The lady said it would not give a problem. When i arrived they didn't open the door so i sat down behind the building outside in a chair! After an hour i went for a short walk and found a greyhound bus station where it was warm. In the morning i went to the hostel and they apologized for the mistake. I was pissed and told them so. After a short sleep i had a great time with the other guests (mostly longterm, all types of mostly men), weather was nice, nice garden in the back, coffee. Grand Junction is really The wild west, and if you come from europe, here you will find a little piece of the real american way of life! — robert (2007-02-06) I phoned the Melrose and made a reservation, leaving my credit card information with the clerk who took my reservation. My wife and I arrived at the Melrose at 7 p.m., tired from a mountain bike ride. The front door was locked, but the lobby was full of ladies who I would describe as dressed for the "evening," if you get my drift. The clerk told us that that he had given our room away because he thought we were going to arrive an hour earlier. Standing in the seedy lobby made us glad we weren't staying at the Melrose, but every other room in town was sold out and we had to drive a half hour to find a room.
