Nice breakfast, clean rooms and bathrooms. The owner is very polite and you can use the computer for free. The location is good - very close to the bus station, and it is easy enough to walk to the beach (although I wouldn't say there is anything special about the beach in La Serena). You can book excursions through the hostel which is straightforward. I went on the Mamalluca Observatory tour and the owner booked it all for me, and I was picked up and dropped back at the hostel.

The owner was lovely and greeted us with a big smile! The garden was a really nice space. Good location, only a few blocks from the bus station and the centre.

This hostel is basic and a little old fasioned, but it had most things we needed and was a reasonable price. There is a small communal kitchen which, as other reviews have commented on, only has limited utensils. But it was fine and we managed to make a meal in there, The room was basic, but it had an ensuite bathroom and a tv with cable in the room. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was simple but nice.

the staff were really kind and always willing to make you happy during the stay. Antonio (owner of the hostel) even lent his jeep to a tour guide so that we went on a day trip through the desert.
it is located a few blocks away from the bus terminal of la serena and very close to the local bus stop.
Clean
I would recomend it if you want a nice and quite place to stay in la Serena.

Not a lot to be honest. The rooms were pretty much outside and the doors didnt close properly. The wind came blowing through the door and we had to sleep in our clothes as it was soo cold. The guy used the only good computer. The kitchen is tiny and down the end of the garden with 1 pan for cooking. The good thing though is that breakfast was ready especially for us, we were the only ones there but he did make the breakfast for when we wanted it.

Lovely family but do not speak fluent english and my Spanish is rubbish but we were still able to converse and they helped us book tours for cheaper than if we went through a travel agents. If your Spanish is good then it would enhance your stay much more. We were here out of peak season so only a couple of other travellers hence the average comment as a fun place to meet people.

There were no kitchen utensils, no rack in oven and only two pans. The wifi didn´t work and when we asked we were told it was our computer, though it works everywhere else. The rooms were clean though the bathroom had alot of mould. The two extra bed sheets looked like they´ve never been washed.

Clean and quiet family-run hostel, offers decent breakfast, close to the main attractions of La Serena. There are two computers available for use and the internet is very fast. Good value tours offered. No common room or much of an atmosphere but good place if you`re just looking for somewhere nice to stay.

Nice little hostel, close to the centre of town and the bus station. On a quiet street so you get a good nights sleep. Nice courtyard when you can sit and have breakfast. Kitchen is a little small, with very limited pots and pans. Only one person can really cook at a time. Rooms are small but clean. Bathroom was a bit smelly but we always had hot water

A pleasant, clean and quiet place with good facilities and services... internet, useful kitchen, sunny courtyard (when the sea fog isn't rolling in), and a better breakfast than we often get at Chilean hostels. Handy to bus station, town and supermarkets. A good place to stay.

All in all the hostel was pretty good value for money. $22,000 for a double en-suite, with T.V and breakfast included. They offer tours to the penguin reserve, observatory etc for only a tiny bit more than the locals would pay. The problem we had was that there was no hot water on the first day we arrived and we asked him to try and fix it. He tried for 5 - 10 mins and then said we could go to another hostel in hope of hot water. In the end we stayed and we had no further problems with the water. The other thing is that there is no tourists, mainly locals.

The location was great and it was really nice to have a little TV with english channel movies! The room was a little small but still comfortable. The bathroom smelled a little unfortunately and the hot water was almost non-existent.

We stayed here for two nights in a twin room. The set up of the hostel is much like a motel, and we enjoyed the outdoor patio. The owners are very helpful and although they do not speak any english, they are very accomodating. The breakfasts are nice as they have their employees serve you each morning and see to it that you have had enough. The kitchen however, is a bit small and it is difficult to have more then one person cooking at a time. Their supply of pots and pans is very limited as well, also making it difficult to have two people cooking at one time. Over all, it was a very nice place to say.

Great hostel if you are looking for somewhere clean and quiet, but with a central location. The owners do not speak much English but try to be helpful and are always around if you need anything. They also let us have our room until 1.00 on the day of check out for no extra cost.

The owners are really friendly but should keep themself more busy with cleaning up the rooms than with the garden. In the week i stayed there they never cleaned the room and i never received clean towels. (and yes i was away during the day to give them time to do that) It is absolutely a safe and quiet place but the price is too high for what they are offering.
