Description
The Shoestrings Backpackers is only a short 2 minute walk from the centre of town and very safe. We have a bar, restaurant, ,swimming pool, self catering facilities, 24 hour security, internet cafe and plenty of people around for single travelers to mix with. All our doubles and twin rooms are en-suite and include linen.
We also cater for those who enjoy camping - as long as you provide your own tents and bedding. There are lawns at the front and back of the building for you to pitch your tents on. We also have ablution blocks near the camping areas.
The friendly staff are able to arrange pick-ups/drop offs to and from the airport, sort out all your activities in and around the falls, and assist you with any onward travels that you might be thinking of making!
All activities and accommodation are quoted in US$ and unfortunately very few places have to capability for credit or debit cards so we do advise you to bring enough cash or travelers cheques with you for the duration of your stay.
Any booking made before the 28th February 2009 will be charged at the previous prices.

From the moment you walk into this haven, you feel at home. At reception / bar I was able to cool down with a slush puppy, and then ushered through to my stunning room by the friendly staff.
I stayed in dorms, private and did camping. Very reasonable prices and all facilities were clean and top notch. The cleaning staff go out of their way to help with anything.
The location is absolutely perfect, a block from supermarket and camp grounds and the centre.
In the gardens is a beaty spa, where you can have massage and manicures etc. I had my hair plaited like u do in Ibiza for only $10.
At night, the place becomes alive, and there is not one night that went by that I didnt smile or laugh. The giant swimming pool right next to the bar is fantastic. You can float in the water at night, like the red sea, and look at the stars. Sigh.... heaven found.
I returned the following weekend for new years weekend and did camping. I unfortunately broke my leg, and that was no problem. My every need was attended to by every staff member - from helping me to the bathroom, to changing my flights, arranging transfers, bringing me food. I honestly had more fun in the camp site!
If there is one thing you have to do on your visit to Vic Falls, that is try the restaurant. The food is amazing. For only $8 I enjoyed a chicken stir-fry, that was enought to last two meals. Excellent value and giant portions. Other dining venues in town are apparently below standard. Eat here, you wont regret it.
I loved everything about this place.

Ideal central location in Vic falls with a great bar. The Food from the Blue Babbon was well priced and well made and the on site massuer was a bonus. Also the bar was used by locals not just backpackers always an advantage.

On-site activity booking centre and even masseuses to relax the rafting-weary bodies. Great atmosphere in the bar and the rooms managed to somehow remain quiet even during the rain dance party. Highly recommended.

Cleanliness not great, but probably at the level expected for the country and the price paid. Staff were great, and good facilities (bar, pizza, etc.) were good.

Was in a good location - easy walk to all the main shops in town and not far to walk to the Falls. Our room unfortunately had an ant infestation so our floor was literally covered in ants, which wasn't too pleasant. The bathroom was quite grotty but adequate.
