Description
This is a hostel set in a big garden which also offers the possibility to camp. There is a very nice area for bar-b-q plus seating for those who wish to wile away the evening with long stories and local beer and local tuica. In the day you can hire bikes which is a good way to get around the area if you are feling fit. We also offer trips out to the local country side to a rural farm (trips available fron July 20-Sept 30) house where you can help the farmers during the day and have a party in the evening, this does involve you sleeping in a hay barn or in very basic conditions, but you will learn to dance like the locals and experience somthing both unique and beautiful. Trips only go Wed and Saturday so plan your trip. You will need to carry your drink and anything else we will bring the food but you might have to cook over an open fire.

Cobwobs Hostel Reviews on Other Websites
4 Rob no longer lives there but his mother in law was very welcoming and keen to help. Nice peaceful spot. Not regimented.   — Customer review (2011-12-29) Hostelbookers
5 Rob was wonderful, very friendly. He came to meet me at the bus station, but I didn't know this and had already left it - I must have taken a different road. He shared shots of tuica with me, and was full of information about the town and things to do. I ended up staying two extra days, the hostel is so cosy and welcoming. He made me cups of tea, I only wish that they had a kitchen.   — catherine geer (2011-12-03) Hostelbookers
3 The woman in charge is friendly but she doesn't speak any English, though she did put me on the phone with her English-speaking granddaughter. Luckily there were good signs in the lobby giving info about the area. I paid for a dorm bed but got my own room with a double bed. As advertised, only about 10 minutes from the train station and convenient to the city center. Also, they let me leave my bag for the day while I was sightseeing.   — Customer review (2011-11-23) Hostelbookers
5 Modern, comfortable beds   — Michael Godfrey (2010-10-16) Hostelbookers
5 The owner Rob was fantastic - sharing his insights into Romania and the local area and arranging evening dinners in the backyard. It was like staying with an old friend, where nothing was too much to ask for.   — samantha wong (2010-08-29) Hostelbookers
3 There were only 2 great things about this hostel: the location and it was very quiet so I could sleep very well. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL THROUGH HOSTELBOOKERS because nobody in the hostel knows about the reservation you make in internet. I had to fight in order to explain that I already paid the 10% of the rate!! Moreover, if you don' t speak Romanian, this is a big problem. There is an elderly woman who only speaks Romanian. And my biggest disappointment is that no tour of Maramures was available..this means I could not visit the region..Furthermore, you don't get any useful info at the hostel!   — Sabrina Melillo (2010-05-30) Hostelbookers
5 It was a very comfortable accommodation with a quite good location, it was in the heart of the town.   — Bence Pokorny (2010-03-31) Hostelbookers
5 man, oh man... where do i start.. Cobwobs is a AWESOME hostel if your planning to spend a couple of nights in sighet to get a taste of the culture in maramures. Rob, the host, is a great individual and was extremely helpful during my stay. The hostel itself was impeccable and about a 10 minute slow walk from the train station. HIGHLY recommended :)   — Raul Guerrero (2010-01-04) Hostelbookers
5 A really nice and clean hostel, Rod is very helpful and informative! Highly recommended!!   — CHI KWAN CHU (2009-12-09) Hostelbookers

4 very friendly and helpful owner who helped out with some local travel advice.   — paul auckland (2008-03-25) Hostelbookers
5 Rob, the owner, and his family were a joy to be around. It's more like a homestay, than a hostel! Rob even drove me around to some of the local sites, bless him. Only wish I'd been there when there were other guests, winter is beautiful in Sighet, but lonely for a traveller!   — Madeline Williams (2008-01-25) Hostelbookers
4 The staff was incredible! After I got stuck inside due to the awful weather, Rob decided to do an impromptu tour the next day, which turned out to be really great. This is one of the friendliest places I've been, with the owner making a great effort to help in any way possible.   — Briana Franks (2007-09-21) Hostelbookers
4 very clean! friendly owner who picks you up at the trainstation and brings you there after your stay   — Ebe Daems (2007-09-19) Hostelbookers
5 The staff are helpful and offer tours of near by villages which was great, it was a relaxed and plesant hostel, more like a homestay.   — Melissa Hamlyn (2007-09-18) Hostelbookers
4 very helpful and friendly owner; nice and clean   — John Buxbaum (2007-05-30) Hostelbookers
