The Hostelz.com Review
The only thing that distinguishes the St. Moritz Lodge as a hostel is the shared accommodation and bathrooms (if you choose to get that). The lounge areas are very plush and you'll feel like you're in an upmarket ski lodge. They've got comfortable couches, well upholstered chairs, steam room, heated pool, and a fully equipped kitchen. What more could you ask for? Possibly more availability as the shared rooms are very popular with budget travelers -- so get in early!

The lodge is very comfortable and relatively inexpensive for Aspen. Rooms are serviced daily (hotel style) and there is plenty of storage area. The only possible downside might be the visible shower in the bathroom (where you can see through the frosted glass), so if you're embarrassed by the possibility of other people seeing your birthday suit, then be prepared.

Only the most fickle budget traveler could possibly find a problem with the rest of the facilities at the St. Moritz Lodge. Everything is taken care of and the grounds are kept spotless. Parking is also available -- this is a massive bonus in meter-eating, car unfriendly Aspen.

The fringe off-season is a bargain -- prices are lower and the skiing is still possible, but the crowds are absent. Try and book early to avoid missing out. Transport is available from Denver for a fee each way (four-hour round trip) on a shuttle bus or you could share a ride. It's also worth noting the address of the Lodge as the street splits into two (East and West) and can be hard to find at night.

4  Nice, warm pool, cozy I roomed there with a girl last year. We went to the Jazzfest there and we are still friends today. One year later. not bad, an affordable gem in the gem store.  , USA ()
4  This was a Hostel in a tough town to find a bed. Reasonable and a heated pool, walking distance to Aspen mountain. My main complaint? This is the only reasonable place in town so you may end up sharing the room with somebody in town for the whole season to work. While the guy was nice most of the time, the situation puts a wet blanket on any vacation euphoria you may feel upon arrival. Welcome back to the work week. St. Moritz should do more to place the workers with other workers. Also, there were almost no young people in the Hostel? No idea why? Maybe it's the character of Aspen in general.  ()
5  Delightful! We were sick during our week in Aspen so spent lots of time we'd normally be exploring the sights, there at the St. Moritz Lodge, where we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful garden and the warm, friendly staff. Clearly, this fine place gets many repeaters, and deservedly so. Its location is lovely, near the free bus as well as bike and hiking trails. A jewel.  ()
5  After staying at a pretty dodgy hostel in Los Angeles I thought this was awesome! I stayed here during the winter ski season, and I met heaps of wicked people from Australia, South Africa, South America and all over the world! The rooms are clean, and the staff are pretty friendly. And it's not too far from the clubs!  ()
5  I stayed here for two weeks and enjoyed my stay. This is one of the best bargains you will find in Colorado. It has great showers and it's a really clean place, with some of the nicest, warmest people I have met. I just wish everything was this affordable in Aspen.  ()
5  Great location, pool, beds, tv ... GREAT!  ()
