Hostelz.com's Review
The very fun 3 Little Pigs Hostel is located in a former convent building, and is quite close to the divide between former East and West Berlin. Although the building where the rooms are located can seem a little dark and uninviting upon entering, the hostel is welcoming and has everything the traveler to Berlin could want. Reception is located in a different wing than many of the rooms, but it is not difficult to go between them. The hostel can organize tours of the city in addition to bicycle rental, and the street has a proper bicycle lane.

The Location

The hostel is located on a relatively quiet, yet large, street close to Anhalter S-Bahn station and Potsdamer Platz U-Bahn and railway stations. The hostel building is set back from the street a little, but the signage is great and the building is easy to find. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance, as well as a corner store, grocery store, and a handful of souvenir shops. It is close to some of Berlin's tourist attractions (Topographie des Terrors and Checkpoint Charlie) and the neighbourhood feels very safe.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are spartan but clean, and the beds are relatively comfortable. The ten-bed dorm rooms provide enough space between beds so that you aren't sleeping with your neighbour, and have room for your suitcase. There are full-sized lockers in the rooms, and padlocks are available from reception if you don't have your own. The windows open wide, so it's possible to have a nice breeze cooling off the room in summer. Each floor has a washroom with four toilets and two sinks. There is also another room with three showers, which also has a toilet in a small room. There are no places for clothes or soap in the shower rooms, and most people wear their towels into the shower room or simply leave their clothing on the floor. Although the bathrooms feel very institutional, they are clean. The showers have good water pressure, and lots of hot water.

Common Spaces

The hostel has a number of quite large common spaces, the main one being in the same building as reception. Here you can find couches, three internet computers, tourist information, and a pool table. If you have an iPod, reception will allow you to play your own music over their sound system. Reception also sells ice cream, drinks, and incidentals such as shampoo. Each floor also has its own very large self-catering kitchen, equipped with a refrigerator, two ovens, and a variety of utensils. There is no locked luggage storage, although reception does allow to leave your bags with them if necessary. The atmosphere is fun, but not wild, and many of the travelers seem to keep to themselves.

Summary

The hostel is clean and welcoming, and reception is open twenty-four hours a day to answer questions. This is the perfect place for travelers who want to be close to the centre of the city without having to deal with city noise.

Three Little Pigs Hostel Berlin Reviews from the Web

4   Nice and quiet, good service I liked it here. I'm not a party animal and didn't find myself kept up by others. I did have a private room, which obviously helps, but the place is so big and echo-ey that any sound does carry. the doors were noisy, which was unavoidable, but that's all. breakfast was good and all staff spoke English which is invaluable when you're travel-weary, though they were happy to indulge my attempts to speak German when I had the energy. would recommend.  , age 29, Australian ()
5   Thrilled The Three Little Pigs is simply charmed. I was 4 days in the incredibly beautiful old monastery. The staff were very nice and helped me with the planning of the trips. The rooms were bright and clean and the underground railroad was near. Parking is available. It's all there so you can explore Berlin.  , age 36, US/Germany ()
4   Good hostel It was good and i was glad to use free wi-fi!  , age 28, Japanese ()

5   Modern and clean hostel in Berlin Kreuzberg Me and my friends stayed for one weak in the Three Little Pigs Hostel in Berlin. It showed as a good choice, the staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and clean, the price was affordable, the breakfast buffet nice and they offer free wlan in the lobby. Next to the hostel is a cheap supermarket, if you don't want to spend your money on restaurants you can cook in the shared kitchen. In a five minutes walk you can reach S-Bahn Anhalter Bahnhof and some of Berlin sights are in walking distance. I would highly recommend this hostel, we had a great stay there.  , sweden ()
5   Great hostel in the middle of Berlin At silvester I was guest at the Three Little Pigs Hostel in Berlin for one week. Had a great time there with people from all over the world. The hostel is located in Berlin Mitte, close to S Anhalter Bahnhof, is tidy and clean, the staff was very friendly, in the lobby there is free wireless internet access, a pool billiard and a kicker. The building is beautiful, the equipment quite modern and they offer a shared kitchen, parking lots and a bike rental. I highly recommend this hostel.  , England ()
5   Great 2 weeks in berlin! Three little pigs rocks! At summer, I was guest of the Thee little pigs hostel for 2 weeks. it was a great abode and a nice time, there. I met friendly people from all over the world. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and they don't cost a lot. If you get bored, you can play billiard or kicker at the lobby, where is wifi, too. At the fourth floor is a common kitchen, there you can cook together. For this price a very good service.  , english ()
3   Very clean, cold, sterile, staff okay, internet only in lobby Relative price: Average -- It's what you will pay in most hostels in Berlin. Hygiene: Good -- Nothing to complain about. Beds: Good -- Relatively thick, new mattresses. Staff: Below average -- The girl at the reception was not very friendly, rather reserved. This is a very busy hostel and you are pretty much treated as a number. Location: Average - -About a ten minute walk to the nearest subway station. About a twenty minute walk to the Potsdamer Platz. Noise: Good -- Rather quiet. Internet: Wireless only available in the lobby. Two terminals with older computers. Other: This is a rather large hostel. I stayed here in the winter and the room was very cold. The room I was in was very clean. The room and halls are rather sterile and have the feel of a hospital or prison.  , England ()
