Don't stay here or you may get an unexpected place to sleep. a small hostel managed by a couple of staffs that sounds warm and friendly? absolutely not! they said they have a lot of rooms available but the booking is useless. you may get an idiot one even you're booking for a large room. or he may give you a blanket and let you stay on a floor. everything is on his decision. if you're asking for what you have booked? he will attempt to kill you then. this hostel is located in a big city. Yes, you can easily to get a subway but it's so noisy that you can't sleep at night. and it'll be a big problem if you got a room with broken windows. it would better to try any others hostel which are located around there nor even in the same building but different floor (the building is quite old and dirty). here are facilities -- stinking pillow and blanket, broken windows and a lot of mosquitoes that can bring you many diseases, clogged pipes, slum and slut environment, uncontrollable hot/cold water, bad attitude staff, explosive bulb, no locked door. Travelers may be duped by using various name like Kowloon hostel, Taiwan hostel, Oriental Pearl Hostel, Li's Hostel, ChungKing Hotel, Hong Kong Downtown Backpackers, Tsim Sha Tsui Hostel. The best way to be saved is not to stay in Chungking Mansions building.

Not a bad spot compared to what else is at Chunking Mansion. The owner is shady. He totally disregarded my $20 deposit explaining that it would reflect on the amount I was paying. I was pretty upset about it. Watch your step when making a deposit through this website with this owner.

Tsim Sha Tsui, Oriental Pearl, Li's Hostel, and a couple others I forget the names of are all owned and operated by one asian couple. The first room I stayed in I slept on the floor in my sleeping bag cause the mattress was so dirty. After making friends with Gino da Cocharoche and his friends I asked to moved to a better room. The guy took me to the E block of Chung King Mansions to the newer rooms which are pictured in the website. He opened the door and he immediately squashed a cocaroche and hoped I wouldn't. Having not many other options I stayed and took the newer room. The blanket they gave me I later found out the hard way was full of lice.
