Conveniently located by a metro line (Cardeal Arcoverde Stop), you can easily travel to anywhere in the city, in addition to a leisurely 5 minute walk to the famous Copacabana Beach.

Grocery stores, internet cafes and restaurants are all in the surrounding area as well, so you will have everything you need.

The hostel includes two floors of rooms, with air conditioner and fans to keep you cool during the hot summer days in Rio.

We also have a computer lab and wifi access, so you can have quick access to any information you need. The King George Hostel also includes a full bar, where you can enjoy breakfast in the mornings or a caipirinha in the evening. We also have a garden at the bottom floor, where you can relax and wind down.

Location	•Directions to hostel king george • From the Bus Station; • Best option is to take a radio taxi from just outside the bus station. You pay a fixed fee at the counter. Will cost about 25 Reais to get you here. Walk straight past the counters inside the bus station as these work out more expensive. • Another option is to take the ´Real´ Bus from in front of the bus station. It's cheaper but takes much longer. It costs 4 Reais, & the drivers speak English. Walk past the taxi rank just outside the station & wait for the bus at the side of the road opposite. They run every 15 minutes and will stop on the main beach road (Avendida Atlantica). Ask the driver to stop at the ´Copacabana Palace´ hotel. Walk two blocks away from the beach on ´Rua Rodolfo Dantas´ onto ´Rua Barato Ribeira´. Cross the road and then walk to the left taking the first road on your right 'Rua Tonelero' just before the metro station. Walk across the next traffic lights over the road 'Ladeira do Leme'. Walk past the petrol station onto 'Rua Assis Brasil' then turn right onto the road to the right just after the petrol station, 'Rua Guimaraes Natal'. Follow the road round two bends then walk up the road to the left, 'Travessa Guimaraes Natal'. The hostel is the first house on the right hand side. • Alternatively, walk over to the other side of the station and walk across the road, past the taxis to the local bus station which is at the other side of the road. Catch any bus to Copacabana, most of which run along ´Rua Barato Ribeiro´. Look out for ´Arcoverde´ Metro station on your right. Get out at the Metro station. Walk down the road before the metro station to the right, head to the petrol station then follow the same instructions given above. • From the Airport • Again, the best option, particularly if you're in a group, would be to take a taxi. Depending on the time and the driver, it should cost between 50-70 Reais if you are lucky as it could cost a lot more as the majority don't think twice about trying to rip off gringos. • A cheaper option is the ´Real´ bus. Walk out of the arrivals lounge, take a right past the waiting taxis and look out for the airport bus stop. At the time of writing this cost around 6 Reais. (See bus station info for instructions on where to get off the bus). However, be warned this takes a long time! Up to 3 times as long as a taxi. • An alternative is to take the express real bus to the domestic airport ´Santos Dumont´, around R$4. This only takes around half an hour. From this airport it's about a R$15 taxi fare to copacabana.

Should have walked away. Have been travelling for 3 months and by far the worst place i have stayed. Scary group of men. Dorms covered from one end of the room to the other in rubbish. Horrible smell from dorms and even in the private. Changed to a private once we realised how disgusting and insecure the dorms were, terrible waste of money for what you got. Male staff member not helpful at all when answering questions, where things are good places to go etc. Bathroom wasn't cleaned probably clumps of hair all over ground and wall. dirty sheets on bed. I liked nothing about this property. It is by far the worst hostel we have stayed in during 7 months travelling around the world. Terrible breakfast and staying in a room with no windows that doesn't lock properly just isn't acceptable even for Rio. Close to subway and beach but hard to find as not well signed, especially at night. No wifi and the 2 computers on offer were generally being used. The monkeys were the best bit... We've stayed in a number of hostels over the last 3months and this place is below average. The beds were foam and the linen smelly. Our dorm and the whole place smelt of mould and damp. The breakfast was okay, not the best, but not the worst. They have signs everywhere asking for quiet after 9pm, however, our room backed onto reception and at 11.30pm people were still singing and playing music from the internet (including the staff!!). The only good thing about this hostel is the location. Unless you are actually counting your pennies, you really should try to avoid this hostel. they are many other hostel of a much higher standard for the same price in the area! The room are humid, smelly and dirty! The breakfast is just a pathetic excuse for food ( stale bread and butter). Most of the showers don't have hot water, the bedsheets are completely unacceptable (unassorted, wrong size and dirty). it is also noisy at night, because of the lack of control from the staff, and because of the staff themselves! all in all, do avoid staying there unless you have no other alternative! — Anonymous (2009-10-18) Hostelbookers

If you stay here, don´t stay in the 8 bed dormrooms, choose the smaller ones. Toilet downstairs is usually OK, but the rest is a mess. Breakfast is good with Rio standards. Big plus that small monkeys come and visit during breakfast. If you like animals.. During my stay, a few persons got money and Ipods stolen.
