The Hostelz.com Review
Neds Beds at Grampians Backpackers is cosy, friendly, and affordable. The accommodation is situated on a residential property land. There are three to four closely spaced dwellings on the same property. Each dwelling has a number of bedrooms and bunk-bed rooms to suit various travelers. There is even free usage of bicycles based on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Location

The accommodation is located just off the main street in the township of Halls Gap in the Grampians region. Halls Gap is the main township, central to most attractions in the Grampians region. The accommodation is just behind the tourist information centre, which provides an indication of how near the accommodation is to the township. The township has most amenities like a grocery shop, souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants along the main street. The accommodation is about five minutes' walk to the main street. Parking is available in and around the property.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The house where we stayed had three bedrooms, including a master bedroom with ensuite (which we stayed), a double-bed bedroom, and a room with bunk beds. All rooms can be locked with a key handed to you from the owner. The rooms are pretty much like a home setup. This is the closest it gets to being at home away from home. The showers are clean with good water pressure and heated water.

Common Spaces

This hostel features a fully furnished house with cooking facilities, full dining and cooking utensils, TV/DVD player, sofa, and dining table. The ambiance of the house depends largely on the type of housemates; our stay was relatively quiet -- most visitors are considerate to fellow housemates. The owner organizes group events at times, depending on the season. The property has quite a few people living in it, sometimes the owner organises activities for the fellow travelers.

Summary

Overall it's a great place if you are after an affordable, cosy, homey kind of place. It's probably more suited to youngish travelers rather than elderly folks. Do note that the picture listed in the website is just one of the dwellings available for rental, you have to ask which is the actual place that you will be staying.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
1  Nice surroundings, but Ned's Beds should be called Ned's Bad. Although the price was right, the tidyness left much to be desired. No key for the room, and the linen was not changed at all, allthough the bed was made up. So we slept in other man's sand and dirt. What's the point of a made up bed if the linen isn't changed for new visitors? The kitchen was very sticky and it seemed like they realy didn't care to clean up or tidy up. So, all in all, the price wasn't right and the stay wasn't pleasant.  , nl ()
