The Hostelz.com Review
Don't be fooled by the name -- you won't find just surfers at Sunset Surf Camp -- and the accommodation is first class. The hostel is located one hundred meters away from a surf beach and minutes away from the town of Saint Francois. Open-air planning gives the hostel a breezy feel and you can hear the the relaxing sounds of the beach at night. It's in a quiet and secluded location, but everything you need is nearby.

Two large houses make up the surf camp and they are both open air (not a problem in the warm Caribbean any time of year). The first house has a large, self-catering kitchen you can use as well as a well-stocked bar where Peyo (the friendly owner) will be more than happy to fix you up a cheap drink. It's a great socialising area at night and very laid back. The second house is decked out with large lounge chairs and hammocks -- perfect for laying about in the afternoon. There is also a free internet computer for use (wifi is also available for free) and magazines. Breakfast is available for a small fee and dinner can be arranged on some nights.

Accommodation options are scattered between the two houses -- they are new and spotless. A lot of thought has gone into the planning of the layout and the large bathrooms are a bonus, along with the personal bedside lamps and clothes hangers. Everything is very clean and new. The only downside might be the lack of air conditioning, but there are large fans for cooling and they do a good job when it's not too hot.

Bicycles are provided for free guest use and come complete with a combination lock. Saint Francois is easy to ride around and the bikes are an awesome addition. Being a surf camp, you can also learn to surf, wind surf, or kite surf -- the rates are competitive and the location is a great place to learn. Surfboards are available for hire if you are already experienced.

The Sunset Surf Camp is a stylish hostel option and a very relaxing place. Peyo and his family will ensure you have a great time and if your French is rusty than you can speak English and be understood. Saint Francois has everything you could need, but is at least a thirty-minute drive from the airport.
