Much of the old architecture and character of old Salvador de Bahia has been restored in the oldest part of the city – Pelourinho, and Hostel São Jorge is located in the heart of Pelourinho.

Salvador takes great pride in the fact that Pelourinho has the largest collection of Baroque Colonial architecture in Latin America and has been declared a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE.
