We invite you to stay at Salvador 's friendliest hostel, located in the heart of Pelourinho. Salvador, the first capital of Brazil from 1549-1763 became a blending of European, African and Amerindian cultures which are still evident today. Much of the old architecture and character of old Salvador de Bahia has been restored in the oldest part of the city – Pelourinho, and Hostel São Jorge is located in the heart of Pelourinho.
Salvador takes great pride in the fact that Pelourinho has the largest collection of Baroque Colonial architecture in Latin America and has been declared a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. And São Jorge Hostel is fortunate to be located in this area with its many cathedrals, palaces and Museums. We are minutes away from numerous sandy beaches and cruises to scenic and historic islands.
Experience Salvador of the past with its many free public demonstrations of drums Bands, Capoeira and local music. Hostel São Jorge is surrounded by scores of fine sidewalk cafes and several Capoeira academies.
Our goal is to be the best budget hostel in Pelourinho, Salvador , catering to the needs of backpackers worldwide. Not a great deal. A guest whom had spent some time there had indicated that the quality of the breakfast was dependant on the number of guests staying. First morning bread and no spread plus banana and second just bread and butter. No English spoken or effort to contact an English speaking individual. Andre the owner was mentioned but refused to make the effort to speak with us. Our worst hostel in South America to date!

The staff are really friendly and the owner will book flights and buses for you which is great! The hostel has a really nice atmosphere and we met loads of people.
