Nice, Clean Rooms, and Super Friendly Staff
Just returned from Hanoi this morning and have to thank Little Hanoi for a wonderful experience. We used it as a base for our travels to Sapa, Hoi An and Halong Bay. Although we stayed only three nights, we were made to feel as though we were regular guests on a long stay. We switched from another hostel and had a much nicer room with better facilities and services for just $6 more for three persons! We booked all our tours with them as they offered the cheapest rates after some internet inquiries, as well as with travel agencies. And we are very satisfied with all the tours they booked us in. The friendly staff were warm and welcoming no matter what time and condition we were arriving in from our tours. I'd certainly be recommending this hostel to my friends visiting Hanoi.

Very good, once you get to know the staff
Stayed here three times, each time they were very accommodating and friendly -- the more effort you make to understand them, the better it gets. The place was refurbished about six moths ago. Rooms were AC with out breakfast 15US, and free Wi-Fi in the diner. They invited us to join them (the staff) for lunch three times now. Clean, secure, and helpful. We didn't always enjoy the tours, but that is not to do with them. We would use them again if coming back to Hanoi. Always double check everything, the more patient you are with them, the easier things become.

It was a disaster staying at this hostel. People who were staying at single/double room said they liked it there, but if you are looking for dorm, I would never recommend this hostel. The room is overlooking the reception through windows which are always slightly open hence you'll keep hearing the noise like people talking and telephone ringing twenty-four/seven, sometime some drunk people talking at the reception make it even worse. With only one common bathroom which is beside the reception, you will have beautiful toilet and shower times having other people knocking on the bathroom door every three minutes not allowing you to have a relaxed time. Also I really didn't like the way they treated their guests -- one day the hostel staffs asked us -- most of the guests -- to move out explaining that they got a huge group booking for the following day. How can they so easily throw their guests out on the street with such short notice? Just to add, like most Hanoi hostels are, the staffs of this hostel are never nice to you (especially if you stay at a dorm) unless you book one of their expensive tours. So be prepared for the bitter experience if you are on very low budget.

I stayed at this hostel on the eighteenth of July. it was really a nice place. the staff was so helpful and kind and always really pleasant. they went out of their way to help me. the location is good and the rooms clean. they also provide the possibility for many different services. really helpful and friendly.

if you are looking forward to a great time in vietnam, avoid this hostel at all cost! the rooms are shabby and dirty and the toilets looked like they were remnants from the vietnam war! the only consolation was the free airport pick-up they provided. so stay clear!

Definitely a great hotel, centrally located with good prices and very helpful, friendly staff! Free smiles all the time. Kudos also for their tours, I had a great time in Ha Long Bay and Sapa, just talk to Spring and she'll handle most things including VISA arrangements etc.! I recommend!

I stayed at the Little Hanoi late last year. The Little Hanoi comes with my full, 110% reccomendation. The staff are fantastic, they cannot be faulted, the rooms are clean, it's secure and a safe place to stay. Sure, the rooms are small and it can be a bit noisy (the way the hostel is designed means noise is easily carried) but for a couple of pounds sterling a night -- paid a lot more to stay in a lot worse places! For some excellent Vietnamese food, go out the front door, cross over the road and turn right -- keep on for a block or two and there is a cafe on the corner. Best beef, cabbage and noodles I have ever had.

We stayed at Little Hanoi Hostel in late Dec 05 but unfortunately could not stay longer as there were a few problems with the room - small room & bathroom with no views, leaking toilet, leaking hand-basin. The rooms themselves are in urgent need of repair & I felt the advertising was a bit misleading (saying they were one of the newest mini-hotels to open - what we got was far from this) HOWEVER the staff at the hotel are very kind & friendly. They kindly sent one of their staff all the way to the airport on a bus to collect us (a long 1hr bus ride) & offered free fruit, tea & coffee on arriving. Breakfast is limited to bread, butter & jam, tea/coffee & some fruit. The other thing we found upon paying was that we didn't get the promotional "50% off first night" as advertised but then again we only stayed one night and perhaps that was meant for longer-stays (this perhaps could be mentioned in the online advertising to clarify). The hostel could also do with an elevator as it gets quite tiring having to walk up & down to your room. My opinion is that the staff are nice & friendly, however the rooms themselves need to be improved. Another good thing about the hotel is that the manager has an excellent command of English which always comes in handy! Hanoi appears to be in general an expensive place to stay so if you want something comfortable, be prepared to pay a bit more for it. Other areas in Vietnam eg. Hue, Hoi An & Nha Trang are much more cheaper & you can get something quite comfortable & decent for only $8-12US/night.
