The hostel of Basel City was opened on 22nd March 2005.
Our second Youth Hostel in Basel is situated just three minutes on foot from the station. The inner courtyard - an informal garden - offers a comfortable spot in which to relax in the heart of the city. In just a few minutes you can be on Bahnhofplatz with a huge choice of trams headed in all directions ...

The central location in the working-class district of Gundeldingen provides an ideal starting point for trade fair visitors and exhibitors as well as for globetrotters or group members who would like to stay in a single or double room.

First of all it is place for teenagers, it is was noisy!!! This place defenetely not for families. If you have heavy luggege and your room on the 4th floor-it's hard work to bring it up!!! Unbelievable, but in the room smell after cigarets and we should keep open our windows even if you can not sleep due to very noisy train station just near by....Linen is very grey color and with holes on the sheets..there are no towel. BE NOTICE: from 12p.m.-till 3P.M they are closed and we could not leave our luggege after check out. I have visited palces in Switzerland and can compare.It is really bad experience. Only the location is good, but you will defenately will find places much better- I am sure.

Convenient to loacal transport, but is right next to the main train station so can be quite noisy, but the widows do block out a lot.
Unfortunately when we stayed, we were on the same floor a young teenagers who spent a lot of time running around the corridors and up and down the staris and the noise does travel

The breakfast was very good, and the staff was helpful and friendly when I needed them. Also, you get a card for public transportation when you stay there, which is really helpful. The rooms are not amaying, but they work well enough for the price.

well, the loaction is just perfect, but we thought a real YHA should have more than three showers for two stores and there was not more than a cheap microwave to use and no kitchen to cook your own meals...we were shocked about that, it's standard in a YHA hostel!
and be aware, we arrived at one o´clock in the afternoon, and it wasn't possible to check in =(

Too noisy room due to the hostel is close to the DB station.
We expected to have bathroom in our room as in the webpage it is offered "Private Double Room" but, in fact, the WC and shower were for sharing in each floor. In my opinion, this should be said "Shared Bath-Double Room"

After Check-In you will get ticket for trams and buses for all days during staying in this hostel. So, if you booked for one night a room, you will get a ticket for 2 days: check-in and check-out days. It was really useful

It is a completely smoke-free hostel and conveniently located near the SBB train station in Basel. Toilet facilities and bathrooms are well equipped and very clean. Breakfast is inclusive as well as the mobility card for the duration of stay in hostel.

The hostel located very near to the railway station. The room reservation service by internet is very effective. The building is a standard swiss one, the welcome is anonymous but polite, as usual in big towns. Rooms are rather clean, but anonymous, the garden is quite dirty, the breakfast is fair. It is very difficult to find a free parking for cars and I would not suggest it to car drivers.This hostel is in the very average, but it has a very convenient location for train travellers. — Davide (2006-08-30)
