The Hostelz.com Review
Litus Roma Hostel is in Ostia, which is about twenty minutes from Rome. It would probably be a ten-minute train ride if the trains would not go as slow as a trolley. You can call them to pick you up but we chose to use the bus. We had difficulties finding this hostel, because the hostel is actually on Via Cozza street (we were looking for the entrance on the street of the address).

The staff is super friendly and nice. During our stay in this hostel, a roommate took a shower and somehow flooded half of the room. The staff was cool about it and cleaned the room.

The hostel is very clean and the rooms are huge. This hostel is brand new -- less than two months old. It was once an orphanage home and it's now being renovated. The bathrooms are in the rooms and if you are lucky you might get an ocean front view or side view. It is a nice view and sound to wake up to. The rooms also come equipped with cable TV but unfortunately they all in Italian. Once in a while you will find some MTV programs in English.

On the negative side, at night there is a loud rave beach club that goes on to all hours of the night. One of the advantages of this hostel is since it was an orphanage home, there are three thick window/balcony doors. Once you close them all you are safe from rave music. There is a bar with plasma TV -- this is the lounge where breakfast is served. Breakfast is excellent, with croissants and coffee or juice. They have four computers with twenty-four-hour access.

When you pay for your stay the hostel only accepts cash. Overall, despite the location, this is a nice place to meet other backpackers. Also, at the end of a long day of sightseeing in Rome, it is great to relax on the beach. It feels good to meet the locals and be away from tourists and the expensive city that is Rome.

5 Excellent hostel
Excellent hostel just in front of the beach. The city center is at twenty minutes' ride by public transport and the breakfast is wow! Terrific building and clean/spacious rooms and baths.

5 Clean, modern, helpful, affordable
I only stayed for one night but the room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The location is much closer to the FCO airport than hostels in Central Rome and the Osia Lido region is very nice.

5 One of the Best
The location was perfect, Ah the Staffs, Let see we got lost I think we were two or three blocks from the Hostel and one of the staff came to pick us up, like it was no big deal. My point is the staff is very helpful, let see there was Massimo, I don't speak Italian and he doesn't speak English however when I shout out loud Massimo, he would drop everything to come to my rescues. then that was another gentleman -- he was full with Information about Ostia, Rome, and other parts, he suggested where to go, the cheapest eating places, what buses to take and so many different things very very informative. We were so busy doing all the things he suggested that we didn't even know there was a night club across. However we met some local boys who took us to some nice bars in Rome, I think only the Local hangout there since everyone seems to know everyone. We met some local people who were more than helpful, we went beyond tourists' areas, after a long day we would either relax outside in the front or the back facing the beach. we spent three nights.

5 Fantastic, Affordable, Comfortable
Totally excellent hostel. The staff were super friendly and helpful, bent over backwards to help us out, and the whole place was clean. Breakfast was huge and had a huge variety of food and was totally delicious (and free). Only downside, location. Takes almost an hour to get there from downtown Rome, but once there it's peaceful. They even picked us up from the train station in Lido at a ridiculous hour of the night. Very highly recommended!

4 Litus Roma was a gem of a hostel given its place in an expensive, noisy city. We stayed here two nights and the staff was incredibly helpful and the rooms spacious, clean, and quiet. It took a bit of time to travel in (a ten-minute walk to the railway station, and a forty-five-minute train/metro ride into St. Peters -- less to a place like the Roman Forum), but not terrible. Being just off the beach was lovely, and there are a few decent restaurants nearby. If you're looking to be at the center of the action, and at the doorstep of the Roman sites, this isn't your place. If you're ok with traveling a bit for some peace and quiet (and a cheaper, clean room), this is your place.

3 Litus Roma was a good hostel to stay in only because it was out of the main part of rome, which probably made it safer. but it was way out. it is a half an hour train ride just to get to the metro station and a ten minute walk from the train station to the hostel. If you are in rome to see the sights (which most tourists are) don't come here because you will spend half of your time communting. Also, Ostia was not the best place either. The locals were not friendly at all and there was a huge club playing music until four in the morning right across the street. It felt like I was sleeping in a bar.
