The Hostelz.com Review
The Crianlarich Youth Hostel is part of the Youth Hostel International Association, and each guest has the opportunity to join on site when they check in. It is a most worthy hostel! Each guest will feel right at home in this cozy hostel. After a hard day's hiking, there is even the opportunity to watch some Champions League football.

The youth hostel is clean, spacious, and has well-maintained facilities and grounds. The kitchen and dining area are large and equipped with roomy refrigerators. Several ovens are in the kitchen. The water is nice and hot – that includes the showers! Each room includes a sink and coat-hanger rack. Linens are provided, as are duvets, but you have to bring your own towel. The common room is a place to read a book, chat, or watch television (including digital satellite service). There are plenty of couches.

The staff is knowledgeable of local activities, geography, and history. There is a computer with internet access near the reception desk, in addition to a pay phone. If you run out of food, the local shop covers most of your food needs. There are four restaurants in town, though no pub.

This hostel is an excellent stopover on your West Highland Way walk, Munro camping, ski trip, or weekend on the golf links. It is situated in an excellent location in Munro country at the north end of the Loch Lomond/Trossachs National Park. Crianlarich is a quaint little village.

If you arrive by bus, you have a five- to ten-minute walk from Citylink bus stop (near bridge and memorial statue). After the statue, take a right on Station Road. Pass the food shop (on left). Stay with the left fork. Look for the sign to Youth Hostel (road to tea room on the right fork). This hostel can be very busy during summer months and then for a spell during the peak snow time (people do enjoy the land in the winter, too).

A superb place to stay with good kitchen facilities. The staff are very helpful and cheerful. We, a group of ten had a great time here. Lot of walks around including West Highland Way. Surely I would recommend this hostel.

Excellent hostel with beautiful views, and is a great base for walking the west highland way (the best known walk in scotland). The staff and the german sheperd 'Ailsa' were very friendly. Several good hikes start very close to this place. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone who loves walking/hiking or simply seeing more of Scotland!

We stayed in this hostel in 2002 after the Dunoon Highland Games. We were only there for one night and I remember the hostel as a quiet place located in the middle of the Highlands. The staff was very friendly and even reimbursed our money we lost in the laundry! My only problem with the hostel was the lockout - we couldn't stay for the awards ceremony at the Games because we had to check in prior to 11:00 or we wouldn't get into the hostel (but the staff needs to sleep at some point too) rendering us homeless for the night. Feel free to email me for other hostels around Scotland (spent 3 weeks there in 2002.) Cheers! Bonne (mcgowanb45@hotmail.com)
