The beach, just a 2-minute walk away, is great for surfing, canoeing, sea fishing, picnics, and is safe for swimming.
St. Abbs (1/2 mile away) offers a wildlife reserve, seabird colonies, cliff-top walks and is a centre for deep-sea diving (surfing equipment can be hired locally, with discounts for Hostellers). There is a local shop 1 mile from the hostel and the small harbour town of Eyemouth, with a leisure centre, shops and supermarket, is nearby.

| Location | By Bus: From Edinburgh take the Perryman's 253 Berwick-upon Tweed bus as far as Coldingham. From Berwick-upon- Tweed, take the Perryman's 253 (Edinburgh) bus or the Perryman's 235 (St.Abbs) bus to Coldingham. From village centre, take the road to St. Abbs. After 800m turn right on the road to Coldingham Sands.
