4 Like a school trip
This place gives you a feel of being on a school trip, it's nice and clean, beds are good and the location is a big plus. But the showers -- they'll burn you alive one minute and the next one it's freezing. Oh, and the heating isn't that good, when I woke up in the morning i saw my own breath rising slowly against the roof. But the hostel is fresh -- stay here and take a stroll in the morning further down the street to the fergburger place (awesome burgers) and for breakfast you have a really good coffee shop/sandwiches place on the left side some hundred meters after fergburger.

4 Good location
Stayed in a twin room with en-suite here for a few nights. The room is clean, tidy, and reasonably sized. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The kitchen is well equipped like most other YHA hostels in New Zealand. Only complaint is our room overlooks the main street so it was a bit noisy on Friday/Saturday nights. The other thing is there aren't that many lockers so it might be difficult storing gear before your big tramp. (There is however a locked room for luggage.) Nevertheless, I will choose to stay in this hostel again.

4 I stayed here on two seperate occasions when visiting NZ. I really like this hostel, the bathrooms and bedrooms are very out of date but spotlessly clean. The communal area is great, small but it's a small hostel! The view from the lounge is gorgeous over the Lake! The staff are really friendly and have loads of information about Queenstown and surrounds. The central location is brilliant for all the sights and amenities, especially Fergburger just further up Shotover Street! If it weren't for the decor this hostel would get 5 stars!

4 Nice place to stay. Very central without being noisy. A bit weird that there was carpet on the walls, but everything was clean and we had a TV in our room. Used to be a hotel and its not been renovated since so it looks a little tired. Kitchen is small but not busy, is on the top floor and has fantastic views of lake wakitipu.
