Awesome place, people, location! This place is outstanding! It's clean, the hosts (Silvia, Sabrina) are very friendly and very informative. The Hostel is a short walk to Ipanema beach with lots of shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. It's located on a private street with twenty-four-hour security and lots of other hostels, so there is never a shortage of people mingling and ready to party. Best Hostel I have ever stayed in. I can't wait to go back.

Brilliant hostel, secure, clean, and friendly. The private double room is big and bright with a comfortable queen size bed, couch, TV, and DVD player. The atmosphere within the hostel is relaxed and the generous healthy breakfast delicious. Nice areas to sit and relax both inside and out. Rob and Sylvia were so friendly and full of helpful information and arranged terrific trips to the football, Rochina favela, and more. After three months travelling in South America this was one of the best hostels we stayed in. Thanks Sylvia for the soap making course -- I loved it and can't wait to try it out at home.

Brilliant place. The staff and especially the owners, Sylvia and Rob, are the friendliest, nicest, most helpful people and the hostels small, intimate nature means you'll make friends quick.

Fantastic hostel! Clean, well run. Internet access, cheap laundry, hot shower, excellent location. Great staff, small and friendly place, very relaxed atmosphere. Staff can arrange excellent day and night trips with English speaking tour guide. Had a brilliant time there, would recommend this hostel to anyone.

Fantastic place to stay. I spent four nights there. I would recommend that anyone who is going to Rio should stay there. The owner, Rob, knows the nightlife in the local area as well as further afield in Lapa. It's clean, secure, friendly and a good laugh! Go on, give the Kiwi some money! Cheers to the guys at The LightHouse!
