Bad rundown motel My family and i would come from ohio every summer to stay at this hotel and it was beautiful and this is where me and my aunt learned to swim. but we will not be staying here anymore -- we will be spending a little more money and stay somewhere else. — lisa ellinger edmonds , usa (2011-08-28)
My buddy and I just recently stayed at the Mayfarer hotel in Myrtle Beach about A week ago. I must honesty have to say it was the worst experience both of us ever encountered. From the moment I walked into that room, I thought I was going to gag. The smell was unbearable! Like a mixture of piss and stale cigarettes. I decided to lay down and I noticed Orange spots on the bed sheets. God knows how long its been since A member of the staff actually washed them. The carpets looked original, the t.v. was outdated, it did come with a stove, but we were only supplied with 1 pan, the bathroom was A disgrace. The bathtub looked like it hadn't of been cleaned in yrs. I didn't even bother showering. The scariest part about it was there were 2 doors in the room that were locked from the other side. I cNt imagine what's on the other side and who has access to come in through those doors. I had to sleep with my mase. Overall, It seemed like A crackheaded/whorehouse and would never recommend it to anyone. And to top it off, don't let A young lady who is supposedly disguised as an employee flag you down and talk you into staying at that so called nice resort. 500-1 her status was A well known prostitute. — Anonymous , usa (2011-01-04)
Cheap owner that works the homeless for $20 a day and a room Wayfarer is in bad shape, owner works the homeless 7 days a week no day off so they can have a room. Will not spend money for repairs so you end up with bugs, things that dont work. These motels are more for the local drug dealers and girls of the night. If you take your wife and kids there, Your wife may learn a new trick and the kids may never be the same. This is all true facts, pay the extra money and go to a nice motel. Enjoy your stay and you will be a hero to your wife and kids. If you do happen to stay at one of these motels watch your back. — Some one that know,s , nation wide (2010-06-13)

Average Me and my fellow savages stayed here last spring break (2009) and had a great time. I mean it wasn't all that great but not too bad either. The old lady came out bitching in the middle of the night but to be honest we were a little too loud. You get what you pay for at the Wayfarer, I would stay again! — Mont. County, NC (2010-02-24)
Bad, terrible, disgusting. some friends and i stayed there yesterday night. the lady that was there last night was an absolute bitch. it absolutely was the worst hotel i have ever stayed at. the bugs were ridiculous. holes in the walls, stickers on the mirrors. sheets on the bed were dirty. it didn't have a door knob on the bathroom door. cigarette buts behind the behind the beds. didn't look like the floor has been vacuumed in ten damn years. i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. looks can be deceiving. waking up to bugs beside you in the bed is not a pleasant sight to see. — april , usa (2009-07-14)

Ok I thought this hotel was pretty decent for the price. We stayed here summer 2008 and we didnt have the problems that others seem to be having. The staff were very friendly, and i didnt really think it was in a bad part of town. The only problem I really found with the hotel was the bathroom, the sink seemed to get clogged easily and the shower wasn't all that nice. But at the price we paid you can't really expect more. Other than that, i thought the room was pretty nice, and located at a great spot on the beach. — Chrissy , nc (2009-07-01)
Terrible I have never stayed in a place so dirty or so scary. I only booked one night at the last minute and had no recourse but to stay. The sheets had blood stains! The sink and toilet in the first room had not been cleaned at all in weeks. I moved to the cleanest room and it was only moderately better. It looked like a retirement home for hookers, with older, tarted up, drugged out looking women hanging out with pimps on the deck. Scary and loud. Never, never stay here. — Cooper , USA (2008-09-16)
Terrible This is no longer a Hostel. Just a crappy half-star motel. It is right next to the beach but it's in a seedy part of town. Truth be known most of myrtle beach is unclean. steer clear of this $49 a night Bates Motel wannabe. — Kirk , USA (2008-06-29)

I enjoyed it -- i'm staying there again this year Last year during senior week 2007. Me and about four of my friends stayed in one of the three-bedroom suites! It was very affordable and a great place to stay! The rooms were nice. The only thing is we would usually need towels before they did their rounds, so we would have to go and get them! But we are going to stay there for Black Bike Week 2008! I can't wait! — Asha Sledge , USA (2008-04-19)
This is a shame I have not stayed here in several decades, but I can tell you that when the Farrars owned and operated this motel, you would have had no complaints except for maybe one. Back in the early '70s there were no phones in the rooms! But the owners would come to your room and get you for calls that you might receive. I don't know what happened to this family and am sorry to learn they left the business and that it has gone down such as this. It was a place that gave me the best years on going to the beach as a teenager. In fact, my first love was found right there in the family. Too bad I let him get away also. — Caroline , USA (2007-08-13)
Disgusted! I booked this motel three months in advance. I just arrived home today after staying at Wayfarer Motel for a week. I mainly picked this motel among the others in Myrtle Beach because of the stove available in our room. My family wanted to save some money by cooking our own meals. The week we stayed the temperatures soared to 103 degrees with plenty of humidity! The air condition units in both of our rooms were cool. Furthermore, the oven did cook our food. However, some knobs were missing. Some of the staff were nice and the pool was in decent shape. Due to soaring heat temperatures we spent more time in our room than we expected to. I was well aware the motel was outdated and a little rundown, but after all we weren't at the beach to be in the motel all day long. There were two rooms that faced a brick wall. My mom politely asked to be moved (there were a lot of empty rooms) and the manager said he would ask and never got back to her. Housekeeping, although the ladies were nice, put sheets and towels on the bed but never changed sheets or cleaned. They simply vacuumed. The kitchen area was filthy and was bare with utensils, pots, and pans. I was only provided a rusty, dirty pot. Linens were dirty and towels were rough as could be. There was also mold and dirt everywhere. I even had a cockroach crawl up my leg, no lie! But words can only tell so much. We paid $70 a night, per room. If you can do without a stove, there are better places out there! — Jen , North Carolina (2007-08-10)

good for the price I stayed at this hotel grad week 2007 and i thought it was very nice. I paid a small amount of money and it really wasnt all that bad. It was right across from the beach, and only a couple blocks from the strip. we walked everywhere we went. My friends and I were able to sit outside one a nice quiet nite with no trouble. It was actually quite nice to watch the intersting people that walked by. All together it was a great experience. — katie (2007-07-21)

undetermined I have stayed here twice. the first time the room was pleasant and the rate was good. The second time the room was ok and the rates were outragious but it was the 4th of july so go figure. The folks at the front desk were not so friendly but who gives a damn as long as I can party raise hell and enjoy myself. — resa , usa (2007-06-27)
This is the worst nightmare I've ever experienced since I started staying in motels thirty years ago. The night I stayed there all I saw and heard was prostitutes and drug dealers. It's in a horrible part of town and frequented by people looking for drugs and prostitutes all night. I was going to walk to a nearby convenience store but was warned by another guest it was not safe to be outside after dark! I basically fled the place to another hotel in the immediate area that is far better. This hellhole should be closed and torn down! — SamClemmons , USA (2007-03-26)

I have stayed at the Wayfarer for Black Bike Week in May 2002 and 2003, and will probably stay there in 2007 too. Although other patrons made statements about the staff being rude, I didn't experience that at all. The first year, my travel agent booked me there by mistake, but it turned out to be a good location. (I thought I was booking the Southside of the beach). The Southside is quiet and where all the happenings are (the strip), but the Northside is loud and where the loud folks cruise all night long! It was cool, though, because I'm used to that scene. In 2002, the ladies where actually friendly. (People usually treat you the way you treat them!) They checked on me and my girls often and changed the linen daily. They even gave us some colored cloths for our faces (make-up) as well as clean white ones for body wash (of course your Mama always taught you to take your own towels!). In 2003, when Rocky was there, he wasn't the friendliest person, but I think thats just him, but he did help a group of my friends that flew down with three extra girls. He upgraded their room to a suite and didn't charge them any extra and they just paid the difference. Now what other hotel/motel would do this without trying to make an extra quick buck? Over all, it was very reasonably priced, compared to other hotels within a five-mile radius North or South of Fourth Ave. and it's not the Hilton, so don't expect room service or a mint on your pillow. Remember, you get what you pay for! — Gee-Gee (2006-12-15)
