Great Place and Location We stayed here for four nights when we were in Kyoto. The map they give you is a little difficult, we got a bit lost but I think it was our fault. The hostel is on a side street which is a one-lane and looks a bit like an alley. But it is a very safe area, we didn't have any problems and didn't feel any unease while we were walking there after dark (10 p.m. to midnight). The place is a few blocks from Kyoto station which is very convenient, and there is an elevator so you don't have to haul your luggage up narrow steps. They had a washer/dryer but we didn't use it. They have 100 yen/fifteen minutes internet which was pretty decently priced since I didn't see any internet cafes nearby (wasn't looking for any though) and they had free wireless internet so basically you just pay for the electricity to use their computer. We booked a six-person female dorm but we had guys in the room every night we were there which was a little annoying since one guy snored really loudly. Each dorm has its own shower/toilet and an extra sink with water for drinks or whatever. They have bike rental, and a nice common room that is Japanese style with tatami, shoji screens. They also have TV and a few movies you can watch, fridge to store food and sink with free coffee/tea. They closed the common room at 10 p.m. but that's because they lock up reception and it's in the same area. No curfew but if you come in after 10 p.m. make sure you have your key or you'll be locked out. All in all a nice place with convenient location and clean accommodation. Definitely recommend.
