They advertise free internet, but there is only one ridiculously slow computer and no time limit, so good luck on using it. However, killer fast internet is available right down the street for a few pesos an hour. Staff is not terribly friendly and there is not tourist information or maps available at the hostel.
The rooms are poorly lit and get really cold at night, even in the summer. Bathrooms are old but clean and the hot water is nice and hot, but for less than five minutes, so shower fast. The kitchen is well stocked and looks clean, but beware because it closes at eight (along with the internet) and the supplies used to clean the kitchen are really dirty and gross. Free coffee/water is available, but there is no system that allows you to fill your water bottle.
The common area is nice with TV/VCR but if you’re a light sleeper/want to sleep early, ask for an upstairs room or your bed could be right by the common room, which can be quite loud if there is a soccer game or group hanging out. They have free luggage storage available, but it’s just allowed to sit on the patio so is not very secure. Overall there is nothing to make La Casa di Gladys terrible, but there also isn’t anything that makes it stand out.
