The friendly Prima Hostel is located a short, five-minute walk from the Nyugati train station and metro station. The hostel is up an impressive staircase on the third floor of an apartment building and has three dorms with four to ten beds in each. There is also a lift that can be used from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The beds, with lumpy pillows, are quite standard for a hostel. Each bed has a very large lockable storage drawer underneath. These drawers are big enough to store almost any backpack and keep the dorms from being as messy as in some other hostels. Hostel staff keeps the dorms clean. There are two bathrooms which were well maintained but there can be a line in the mornings.
The hostel has a large common room with cable TV, free internet, and a stereo system. The kitchen has all the basics. Free breakfast consisting of cereal and toast is also provided. The large table is a great place to meet other travelers and share meals. Hostel staff will do laundry for a fee.
Prima Hostel is a clean and hospitable place with helpful staff and is quite central to all the major attractions of Budapest.
