The Hostelz.com Review
Chili Hostel is a very fun party hostel. There are always parties going on somewhere in the hostel and you are guaranteed not to be bored.
The Location
The hostel is located in a neighbourhood around the city centre. The hostel is ten minutes away on foot from the Metro station, and fifteen minutes away from the city centre. But it is a bit tricky to walk from the Metro to the hostel; you don’t want to be on those small inside lanes at night. Both bus stations (Florenc and Dejvicka) and the secondary train station are within three metro stations away without changing, and the main train station is four metro stations away with one change. You can always find bars and places for a beer in the region. Stores, a bakery, and restaurants are easy to find; and near the Metro station you can find a supermarket that closes at 9 p.m.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The whole building is the hostel, and each “apartment” of the building is five dorm rooms. Dorm rooms are spacious; it is actually two rooms connected together. In-room lockers are provided but bring your own padlock (or borrow it at the reception with a deposit) -- the locker size is one standard luggage. There are separate keys for the apartment door and the dorm room door. There is only one bathroom for five dorm rooms, so expect a long queue for shower in the morning. There are two showers in the bathroom but without partition in between so there is practically one. There are no facilities to hang clothes or put other things, and the floor gets wet easily, but you can borrow a hair dryer at the reception with a small deposit and another two bathrooms at the ground floor (if you don’t mind walking).
Common Spaces
There are plenty of common space in the hostel, excellent places to meet people. You have the computer area with enough computers, and the kitchen area. You can also hang out at the “living room” and “dining room” of the “apartment” -- there is nothing there, a large, empty free space.
Summary
This hostel is a good place to meet people and the environment is pretty good. The reception can help you with anything you need, they have a printing service, laundry, snooker table, washing machine (you will need to pay for them -- except you can get cups of free coffee). And for your information, if you forgot to change some Czech koruna, they accept the Euro and the rate is not too bad if you pay in Euros for your room.
