ApartHostel Warszawa is a bright and minimalist place in the heart of Warsaw's trendy alternative Praga district on the east bank of the Vistula River. If good coffee and fast internet are more important to you than a kitchen or a backpacker atmosphere, this might be what you're looking for.
The Location
Warszawa Wschodnia railway station is ten minutes' walk away, and most long-distance trains that stop at Warszawa Centralna also stop here. A metro station is a few minutes' walk away, as are various tram and bus routes so the Old Town is just ten minutes away by public transport or cycling, and Central Station is less than twenty minutes away -- useful if you're getting a long-distance bus.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are a reasonable size for the number of beds; they're a little dark but are on the quiet side of the building away from the main street, and bunks are around the edge of the room so you don't have a neighbour right beside you as in some hostels. Private rooms are located upstairs. Each bed has a lamp, but try to get a bottom bunk if you want a power plug.
There are two bathrooms downstairs for sixteen beds, each with shower and toilet, so when the hostel is full you may need to be ready for an occasional wait. They are spacious and very clean but could use some hooks for clothes and towels.
Common Spaces
The common area is spacious and sunny and feels just like a slick modern minimalist cafe, complete with counter and coffee machine. It might be a good place to sit at a table by yourself and work with the very fast internet, but it doesn't create a cosy or social atmosphere, and guests don't generally seem to talk to each other as much as at some hostels. There is no kitchen, and the staff are reluctant to even refill a water bottle. Breakfast can be bought for a price that is expensive for what you get but is still comparable to other hostels. They make real coffee (espresso, latte) that is cheaper than at most cafés.
Warsaw attracts all sorts of travelers but those who choose to stay in Praga may be a little more relaxed than those looking to party in the Old Town or city centre. The hostel price and quality is above the bottom for the city so the guests are mostly travelers rather than people living in a hostel and working.
