Wayha Hostel Don Mueang Airport Reviews

Hostels don't come any more luxurious than Wayha Hostel, and it's obvious a lot of money has gone into the place. The only reason to stay here is obviously to be near the airport, and you can be assured that you'll get a good night's sleep due to the pod beds. There aren't many hostels near the airport and this is one of the cheapest. However, you'll have to pay for a taxi to and from the airport, as walking here simply isn't possible.

The Location

We're all for long, grueling walks to hostels to avoid paying taxi fees, but walking here is madness -- trust us, we tried. You'll either have to walk along a very busy, two-lane road with no path, into oncoming traffic (which certainly isn't safe), or walk the long way round for well over an hour through a labyrinth of roads. Writing directions for this would be like writing a short novel. Taxis from the airport are metered; the hostel can also book taxis to the airport for any time.

Rooms and Bathrooms

You'll be in for a treat here, as the dorms are kitted with pods. These contain large comfy beds, reading lights, a plug socket, and even your own fan. There's a curtain for a door, and when this is pulled shut you feel completely shut away -- it's lovely. Dorms are also nice and cool due to air conditioning that is on at all times, and there are small lockers for your valuables. Bathrooms are large with plenty of showers and toilets. These are also fitted to a very high standard. Everywhere is immaculately clean and Wi-Fi is strong and fast everywhere.

Common Spaces

As the hostels sole purpose is just for people to crash before or after a flight, the atmosphere is dead. However, the common area has everything you would want to chill out. A TV showing films all day, computers free to use, a guitar, books, board games, comfy bean bags, and a large table where you can eat. Like the rest of the hostel, a high amount of investment has gone into making this look great and feel very homey. Free tea and coffee are available all day -- perfect for waking you up before the flight.

Summary

It's slightly cheaper than the other hostels, but that's because of the location. If you still want to stay here once you've factored in the extra price for two taxis, then you'll definitely get a great sleep. And the experience of sleeping in the pods is pretty cool too. The airport is a ten-minute taxi ride away and there are loads of things to keep you occupied at the hostel. It's a shame they don't have a second hostel exactly the same in the city center.
