The Hostelz.com Review
Situated about a five minute walk from the main square in Krakow, Kadetus Hostel is a small hostel that seems to attract a quieter crowd. The hostel is on the first floor of an apartment building with a twenty-four-hour reception. They offer bike hire and links to tours of Auschwitz and the Salt Mine. There is free internet use (one computer) and laundry for 5zl a load. Small lockers for valuable items are located outside dorms and keys given to every guest.

A kitchen is available with hotplates and a toaster. The bonus is that the hostel is quite generous with the food provided for guests, with tea, coffee, cheese, butter, milk, yoghurt, bread, and assorted flavoured soft cheeses available all day. While guests are responsible for cleaning up their own cooking mess, the cleaner who comes in daily is also very efficient in making sure the kitchen is spick and span and that new guests are aware of the food and drinks available. Drinks are available from reception.

Dorms for two, four, six, and eight are available. The bathrooms are very clean and seem to have been updated quite recently. There are two unisex showers with just a shower curtain so it may not suit the more modest!

Be aware that if you book into the Kadetus, you may actually be staying in the Joker Hostel on the floor above which is not as nice as the Kadetus. The two hostels share a reception.

4  Good local, agreeable staff, clean and "unprisonlike." Staff was laid back and mildly quirky (in an agreeable way), but also attentive, helpful and very flexible. Location is quite good and with such a small city center you can walk anywhere from here. Lots of English speakers while we were there. Competition for bathrooms at peak times was notably awkward, but the facilities were in themselves good and the internet access was a nice perk. The private room was clean, comfy, and unprisonlike. Principal negative (September 2006): Someone was literally constructing a large building directly across the street and trying to sleep past early morning was rendered infeasible by the relentless din.  , USA ()
5  Fantastic! this hostel was the best one we stayed at during our euro vacation. everything was fantastic. it is within walking distance to the centre of krakow, the room was absolutely spotless and modern and the staff were awesome, even ordering us pizza over the phone in polish! i would come back here again.  , australia ()
5  Stayed at this hostel for about a week, and its true, the staff really do make it. The facilities are great, free internet, bathrooms and dorm rooms are really clean, lockers, etc, and while there are other hostels that are closer to the old town, it still only takes about five minutes to get there by foot, but the staff are amazing. There is nothing they won't do, or try and do for you to make your stay in Krakow great. Will definitely go back.  ()
5  This hostel is lovely, with helpful staff, comfy beds, clean bathrooms, plenty of showers, free Internet, a balcony, and a good kitchen. The only problem with the room I was in was that the windows faced the main road and the trams are pretty noisy. They don't run all night and once you are asleep they don't wake you up, but they are very loud if the window is open!  ()
5  Very nice hostel. Everything there is brand new and very clean. The owner and the staff are cool as hell. The prices are great and you're close to everything you need to see in Krakow. There is a 24-hour market right down the street to fulfill your needs.  ()
