I had a great stay on the Maria Alberta. It was an extremely clean and safe hostel/houseboat. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast in the mornings. Close to the Red Light District, but not in it. It's a ten-minute walk from Central Station. Not the place to go if you want a wild, crazy hostel while in Amsterdam, but if you're looking for an affordable comfortable place to stay (with loads of character), this is it.
