5 Cleanliness, comfort, convenient location
Xamanek has to be one of the best hostels I have seen. The dorms are large and airy, with five or six beds each. And the showers are the best anywhere with really hot water all day and no widowmaker electric showerheads. The people I met there where mostly serious, interesting backpackers who did not mind paying a couple of Quetzales more to stay in the zona viva. So no moochers! I could also walk back home without a worry at bar closing times. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Guatemala City.
