To describe Banyan Tree hostel, the best word you can use is eclectic. You have absolutely everything here, including a ruined Hindu temple-looking building, bamboo huts, a cool and modern bar area next to the river, and a mini lake and unlimited amounts of greenery.
The Location
Banyan Tree is located on the western side of the Prek Tuek Chhou River at a very convenient spot that is easy to reach from both the center of Kampot and the bus station even on foot. It offers direct access to the river, even if you would have to jump to get into the water. However, there are always some people swimming in the evenings. You will easily find tuk tuks around, and if you have your own vehicle, all you have to do is follow the road next to the hostel to reach Bokor National Park.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The place is spread out over a huge territory and a number of very different buildings, so you might get the impression that it looks a bit like a squat. Its dormitory is located in a bamboo hut with a concrete structure inside. This is the building furthest away from the main building so the music playing in the bar will definitely not bother you. On the negative side though, there's definitely no chance of Wi-Fi inside. It is an extremely long building with bunks on each side as well as a few bedside tables and lockers. The bathrooms are housed by another building, which is right next door and there are plenty of separate toilets and showers inside. They are clean, stylish, and probably the most upbeat part of the hostel. However, remember, you are near a forest so you might find some unexpected animals inside!
Common Spaces
You will find the widest range of common areas all over. Around the bar, there are some sofas and comfy chairs as well as a separate outdoor dining area where meals can be ordered throughout the day. There is a room with a pool table and board games as well as a library corner and a terrace with really comfy chairs in extraordinary shapes. You can also sit directly above the river on the bamboo platform, which can be especially nice in the evenings.
Summary
Banyan Tree is very hard to sum up in a few words, because the more you see of it, the more sides of itself it opens up to you. However, it is definitely a very laid-back abode, which is perfect for chilling for a few days.

Location
• Heade out of town on National road 3 towards sihanoukville. After crossing the new Bridge take the first right at the roundabout about directing to Toek Chou. Banyan Tree is located approximately 1pm down this road on the right hand side just after Banstead srey spa.
• The easiest way is to grab a tuktuk or motodop from where the Bus drops you, they all know where we are and it's about (1-3$).
• If you need a pickup from the airport we can arrange you a pickup by Taxi.
• From the Airport in Phnom Penh it will take about 3hrs to here (35-45$) and from the Airport in Sihanoukville it will take about 1,5hrs ($20-30).
• Head out of town on National road 3 towards Sihanoukville. After crossing the new bridge, take the first right at the round about signposted to Teuk Chou. Banyan tree is located approximately 1km down this road on the right hand side. The easiest way is just to grab a tuk tuk from town, they all know where we are!
