St. Christopher's is an ok hostel with a rocking good restaurant and pub. If nightlife is your forté, then St. Christpher's is your heavenly oasis. It is ideally situated just a short distance off High Street, in the heart of Bath nightlife and less than a five minute walk from Bath Abbey and the Roman Bath Museum. From the main train and bus station, you can head north for approximately ten minutes, and it is on the left just after the post office. There is a great tourist information center about halfway (on the south side of Bath Abbey) that can provide more detailed directions and a map.
The rooms are very small and very cramped. They are moderately clean, but the lockers are not big enough to hold all your stuff. The bathrooms are again very small and very cramped, but there are plenty toilet and shower stalls and there is never a queue. The commons area, known as the "chill-out room," is practically hidden up on the third floor, and from the looks of it, the cleaning staff has no idea that it even exists up there. It is small, but cozy, not very clean, but has a nice flat screen TV, books, magazines, games, and a computer with reasonably priced Internet access (5p per minute).
The restaurant/pub serves a modest, but free, breakfast of toast, jam, tea, and Nescafe from 8 to 10 AM. The rest of the day it opens its doors to the shoppers and tourists of Bath, serving moderately priced salads, sandwiches, and burgers. As a guest of the hostel you receive 20% off your bill. The hostel staff actually run the restaurant and pub. They are very friendly, but it seems that the restaurant is their first priority.
The music and atmosphere of the pub is excellent! And the pub really comes to alive every night. It rocks well into the evening hours, so bring your earplugs. Due to its popularity and the busy street below, it can be loud at night.
