The Hostelz.com Review
Hotel Kalender is an absolute stand-out hostel; one that will make you extend your stay in Bodrum as the days slip by with you sitting by the pool after enjoying the local nightlife the evening before. The staff are super friendly and the facilities leave you wanting for nothing. The nightly rooftop BBQ at this family-owned and operated hostel will give you a taste of local cuisine and the tour office is well connected to plan any trip or activity you fancy.

The Location

With easy to organise (just pop into the tourist office at the bus station) free pickups from the centre of Bodrum, reaching Hotel Kalender is a breeze. Its location in Gumbet is within a short walk (and well out of earshot) from the main beach and nightlife area, while the downtown area of Bodrum is easily reachable on a local bus or is a pleasant twenty-minute stroll away. Kalender is also well located for a couple of large supermarkets and a shopping mall -- all within a five-minute walk from the front door.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are situated courtyard-style around the pool area, some with tables and chairs overlooking the pool. The rooms are well appointed with towels provided. The bathrooms are en-suite and are new and clean with showers and western toilets.

Common Spaces

Hostels with a swimming pool always stand out, but here you get a great pool with plenty of sun-beds, poolside bar, table football, and chillout space. Daily happy hours and a comfortable outdoor bar set the scene for some great parties with plenty of options within walking distance if you want to extend the festivities.

Summary

We loved our stay with the family at Hotel Kalender and we are sure you will too as the unique combination of attentive staff, great facilities, and the superb climate of Bodrum combine to make your really feel like you are on holiday.

1  Very Dirty -- BEDBUGS My first impression of the hotel was okay -- You get a free ride from the ferry station to the hotel and there's a pool and a restaurant. HOWEVER, the morning after my first night, I had bites all over me. I lifted up the mattress and I saw bedbugs. It was truly disgusting. When I told the management, he just sort of shrugged and that was it. There was no mention of a refund or an apology. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me to.  , American ()
1  Badly run Turned up at the Hotel at 11 p.m. on a Sunday night, booking in hand. Told there were no rooms and was taken to another hotel around the corner and given the most disgusting room ever seen (mould throughout the bathroom). Talking to other travelers and a hostel owner, Kalendar are known for this behaviour.  , Australıa ()
5  We had the best time at Hotel Kalender. No luxury, but clean, nice and cheap rooms. I can only recommend a stay here! It's a very friendly hotel. And on top of it, they serve really nice dinner every night for only 4 euros.  ()
4  This hotel was very good value for money — the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and we always had hot water. The pool was fantastic — definitely get one of the rooms that open up onto the pool — it was great. The bar prices and food prices were also much cheaper than in town! We really enjoyed our stay at Kalender Hotel and found the local staff a pleasure to deal with as they are so keen to help. Thank you very much.  ()
