The Hostelz.com Review
Lisbon Lounge Hostel is one of the hippest hostels on earth -- Ikea-like-decorated and full of life. There are bean bag chairs in the common room, usually occupied by people resting up for their next foray into the party life of the city. There are playing cards, good magazines in several languages, a few guide books and language books, a radio playing alternative rock music, a movie-theatre size projector, and a good collection of films from many countries.

The mixed dorms are packed with young things from every country on earth except maybe a few in Africa. There's a kitchen where someone is always cooking something and willing to share. A breakfast including bread, cheese, honey, milk, cofee, tea, juices, jams, marmelade, and butter is available for 3 euros. Supermarket is nearby. Broadband DSL makes the computer in the common room popular, but not impossible to get to. People are easy-going and don't mind asking for the computer when they need it. The people at reception speak at least five languages and will even print stuff for guests using the computer, for no extra cost. The desk never closes, and beer, wine, soft drinks, and water are always available.

All this, and yet the dorms are quiet, with people sleeping at all hours, depending on when they go out to play in Lisbon, one of the greatest and friendliest twenty-four-hour cities on earth. The hostel is currently located in the Baixa district, with a planned move to the Barrio Alto. Either area is a great place to be, with short walks to the Metro, trams, and buses. The only drawback is that the unisex bathrooms are overcrowded, with a total of three johns and three showers for ten times that many people. Maybe after the move to the Barrio Alto, there will be more toilets and showers. That's the only improvement we would recommend.

5 this is the best hostel in the world. nothing could beat it, it is everything a hostel should be. great social atmosphere with beautiful comfy furniture and amazing music, but still relaxed enough that you can always choose to get to sleep. gorgeous, huge, fully stocked kitchen. really friendly, young staff. they throw dinner parties a couple times a week and for like 6 euros you get a great home-cooked meal and lots of wine. the breakfast is also excellent. and the location is great, very central and close to the metro. seriously, i adored this place.

5 Really, really a great Hostel to stay at Lisbon. Mario, Natacha, Walter, and his brother Tiago are just superb Hosts. absolutely no negative comments for them. I really had a great time for five days. I wish them all the best at their new premises on Sao Nicolu.

5 Very nice hostel. highly recommended. small lounge is nice, relaxing, and great way to meet other travelers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Not much in terms of outside signage so make sure you know the address because you will miss it, especially if coming at night. Only issue is the bathroom was a bit small with only one shower. Great vibes, great people, great times.

5 We stayed in the appartement and it was great. Don't worry about the hill climb from the base hostel up to it because it is worth it. You get your own kitchen for only seven people which means that you are never waiting for use of a stove or anything. The bathroom is clean and water hot. The decoration is great, very modern and Ikea ingenuity. It is in the Bairro alto area, two minutes walk from the coolest bars and night life. Because you are already living up on the hill there is less overall hill climbing. There is free tea and coffee and internet at the base hostel and it is run by young Lisbon people. Really recommended.

4 Really nice place! Just as you can imagine a hostel! The staff is nice helpfull and excellent english speaker. The place is clean. Bathroom is ok. Situated few step from praca do Commercio not in the best area of the city, just in front of the elevador to go to barrio alto. Free internet and nice living room! Go there!

5 Excellent hostel! I stayed three nights there a couple of days ago and I met so many nice people! The staff are very helpful, the kitchen has everything you need and is always clean, the bathroom and shower were also very clean. The bedrooms are small but still nice, there's a sink in them. No complaint about the hostel at all. Stay there!

5 Great hostel! The common room invites you to meet other people and relax. The rooms are nice and clean, and the kitchen is nice as well. The staff are very helpful. Also, the hostel is close to all kinds of public transport, which is nice if you want to go the beach or make a trip to lovely Sintra!

5 Stay here! This hostel is new and vibrant, and everything is stylish, including the showers. It may be harder to find so look behind the newspaper stand where the address shows. The best part is the sweet younger couples who run the place. They are so helpful and love hanging out just as much as the other backpackers. Make sure when you stay you take a day trip to Sintra.
