The Hostelz.com Review
The Claddagh Hostel is located in the heart of Galway, just off of Eyre Square, in a quiet part of the city. It's about a one-minute walk to the Train and Bus stations and three blocks from the main Tourist Info Centre.

The common room is very clean, cozy, and bright due to its large bay windows. It has a wide screen television, comfortable couches, and a few computers where Internet access is included with your stay. The large, newly renovated kitchen is clean, and fully stocked with pots and pans and other cooking utensils. Breakfast is included and consists of toast, tea, and coffee. Tea and coffee is also available all day.

The rooms are very small and private rooms have a lavatory. The duvet covers are only washed once per week, however the sheets are cleaned regularly. Each floor has two shower stalls, however they are not particularly clean. Hot water is a rare commodity and, when available, only lasts for about two minutes.

Parking is available in an adjacent parking lot down the street for 16 Euros per day and the hostel will stamp your ticket giving you 50% discount off the rate. There is no lockout or curfew and if asked, the hostel staff will give you free nightclub passes and vouchers for €1 off a pint!

Overall, the Claddagh Hostel is a reasonably priced place to stay with helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are small, but the large common room and kitchen make up for the sparse accommodations.

5 Wonderful!
The people are what made this hostel so great. Amazingly helpful! I had only stayed one night, but I left two pairs of shoes there and one of them happened to be my absolute favorite clogs that I never travel without. They had the whole place looking and then delivered them to me. They went out of their way and for that, I will go back there anytime!

1 Appalling!
My stay in this hostel was a terrible experience, the first of the problems began when my boyfriend and I entered the property to make our bookings and found the receptionist did not speak fluent English making all sorts of issues in our booking and organising of rooms. Then when we arrived at our rooms we were appalled to discover that the walls were damp; the wall paint was dated, chipped, and dirty; the windows are all outdated and ancient, making the paint on the frames cracked from the build up condensation (they should've been replaced years ago); and worst of all our bed clothes were unchanged and not clean. The price that customers pay is clearly only for the free internet connection and breakfast and not put back into maintaining the dorms. The common room is cramped (as are the dorms) and the place has an unfriendly air. The bathrooms in the building are all serviced at the same time and so should you need to go to the toilet or have some kind of emergency in that time there is none available for use. The entire stay in general was an unhappy one due to the unfriendly atmosphere, the poor quality of the rooms, and the poor hygiene. All in all I was very unhappy with my stay in the Claddagh Hostel and would advise all to avoid it.

2 Eh..
good location, and free internet. Well, that covers all of the pluses for me. The place is located close to the bus station, but there is another hostel much closer which is also nicer. When I went there, the showers had no warm water and were freezing! A freezing shower, in ireland where it was cold, kinda ruined my day. The rooms are huge but filled with beds, and the rooms are cold as well. Not too social. I wouldn't stay here again, there are better places in Galway.

5 Claddagh Hostel is a great place to stay. My five girlfriends and I stayed here over Easter weekend and the staff was very nice and helpful. There is also internet and I night lounging area where other visitors and the staff would hang out. It was clean, and in a good location. Also, my friends and I left a couple things at the hostel and they have been great about finding and sending the stuff back to us in Spain. Definitely stay here if you go to Galway!

1 Reviews can not be trusted due to the competition they have where you can win an iPod if you write a good review on the hostel-booking websites! Very nasty.

5 Claddagh hostel is great! It's close to the city centre, has a nice living room, and friendly staff. I met some cool people here! I would recommend anyone who visits Galway to stay at Claddagh's.

5 No complaints about this hostel. Clean, friendly, free breakfast, and internet -- basically everything they say on the website is true. The rooms have ten people in them, but you don't feel crowded at all. Good music, good decorating. The only quirk is the lack of hot water during the day.

5 Awesome hostel! Comfortable beds; nice location, and fabulous staff. This hostel made my stay much more enjoyable...if you're nice to the staff you might just get free pasta! ;) Free Internet, free breakfast, and nice hang out rooms — a good place to stay.

5 This hostel was simply amazing. The outgoing and friendly staff, free Internet and breakfast were greatly appreciated. Staff were quick to serve and answer any questions at any hour of the night, and our team of eight all went away with positive feedback. The rooms were clean as well as the showers, and everything was up-to-date and very well kept. I would return in a heartbeat at five times the price!!!
