The Claddagh Hostel is located in the heart of Galway, just off of Eyre Square, in a quiet part of the city. It's about a one-minute walk to the Train and Bus stations and three blocks from the main Tourist Info Centre.
The common room is very clean, cozy, and bright due to its large bay windows. It has a wide screen television, comfortable couches, and a few computers where Internet access is included with your stay. The large, newly renovated kitchen is clean, and fully stocked with pots and pans and other cooking utensils. Breakfast is included and consists of toast, tea, and coffee. Tea and coffee is also available all day.
The rooms are very small and private rooms have a lavatory. The duvet covers are only washed once per week, however the sheets are cleaned regularly. Each floor has two shower stalls, however they are not particularly clean. Hot water is a rare commodity and, when available, only lasts for about two minutes.
Parking is available in an adjacent parking lot down the street for 16 Euros per day and the hostel will stamp your ticket giving you 50% discount off the rate. There is no lockout or curfew and if asked, the hostel staff will give you free nightclub passes and vouchers for €1 off a pint!
Overall, the Claddagh Hostel is a reasonably priced place to stay with helpful, friendly staff. The rooms are small, but the large common room and kitchen make up for the sparse accommodations.
