Don't stay here
This a sh*t hostel -- the management is rude. Stuff gets stolen every other day. If the bedbugs don't eat you alive the mice will. No pots, pans, or plates -- the kitchen is disgusting. It might look nice in the photos but that was only for the health inspector visit. The rest of the time people piss all over the floor in the toilets and you have to ask for toilet paper and only two showers for a hundred-bed hostel.

Disgusting -- do not stay here.
I stayed in this hostel a couple of months. What I experienced is disgusting dirtiness, rats, mice, cockroaches, and bedbugs. Shite on the wall, I am not kidding. My whole body was bitten by bedbugs and were suffering from it. There were mice shite on your clothes. The bathroom is disgustingly dirty. That the management would save money they have no cold water in the pipes, and you can take a shower in unbearable hot water. Dirts everywhere, falling pieces of the ceiling, weeping water everywhere.

Nasty, disgusting Hostel with rude people and rats and more
Do not stay there. You will regret it! Where do I start, everything was terrible, terrible, terrible. The crabby receptionist could not even smile at us when we arrived. We were thrown into a horrid, dirty room with bunk beds that were falling apart and infested with bed bugs (we were covered in red spots/bites after one night. Our room was next door to a person's room that permanently stays there but obviously had mental problems and screamed all night. The showers had mold in the corners and had a strange bacterial odor like an old sanitary towel disposal box. The first night we went out as we were walking down the stairs a rat ran across the hallway. The breakfast was dismal. No security. We booked in for five days but could only tolerate it for twenty-four hours. The only one good thing was its central location (Earl's court). We ended up walking just a couple of minuets down the road to Never Square and booked into another hostel that was only £2 more expensive but it was 100% better. I still have night mares about Olave House five months later.

I booked to stay at Olave House for four nights in mid-March. I spent the entire month travelling throughout Europe and despite spending time in cheap hostels in Eastern Europe, Olave House was the absolute worst by a very long shot. My friend and I had booked a twin room. It was filthy, didn't have a proper door, contained two beds which had originally been bunk beds but had been sawed in half and the sharp metal edges duck-taped. Despite being on the ground floor one of the windows had been boarded up and the wooden panel held in place with duck tape. The door to the bathroom upstairs (the closest one to our room) looked like it had been kicked in and couldn't be locked. The door to the showers (another floor up) could be locked, but we couldn't get in as it was being occupied by someone injecting themselves. The entire place was dirty. It was mostly occupied by "long stay guests" who sounded like they were from Eastern Europe. The fact that they have to live in these kind of conditions is a disgrace. I genuinely feared for my safety the first night we stayed there. I didn't sleep, and the safest I felt was when two people started having sex up against our door. We left the next morning, managing to get some of our money back. Olave House is an absolute disgrace and should not be allowed to continue robbing people of their money. Please, DO NOT STAY THERE.

Really shabby hotel. I stayed there for a week with my two teenagers and had to really talk with them to keep them staying. No light in the toilets whose doors couldn't be locked (two toilets for forty people) by chance we were not numerous! mice in the room playing at night with the little boxes meant to kill them. very few cooking utensils, had to ask constantly for cups or plates, cookers without buttons, horrible smell and dirt in the kitchen, disgusting breakfast, the least expensive margarine and jam and sometimes expired bread. On top of that, I had problem because I could only pay with a credit card. The manager wanted fresh cash! For what we got, I think it was a very expensive hotel!

i've been in Olave House the last days of august. i knew that i was spending few money so i didn't expected so much. i found what i expected. The breakfast was very good. my room didn't close but i haven't lose nothing. maybe the worst thing was the bathroom but the location of this hostel is great. I loved it, although i saw a mouse outside.

this place was disgusting. we booked for a week, but after one night had to leave because it was so rundown and seedy. i do not recommend it at all! it was honestly the most miserable experience. the staff came into our room at two in the morning and made a whole bunch of noise putting down a mattress on the floor for two other strangers to sleep in our room. when i got off the bed in the morning, i almost landed on one girls head! definitely nasty place and staff are rude.

Olave House suited well to our needs except one thing. The second day when we got back to the hostel in the afternoon we didn't find our stuff in our room. There were some other people's stuff there. At first, we were surprised, then the receptionist told us that our stuff had been moved to another room. We got angry because when we checked in no one told us that we would have to move to another room. We had put our clothes into the wardrobe and our food on the shelf but they were put into a plastic bag together with the clothes of our Australian roommate and moved to another room. Fortunately we found everything we had. We would have put our luggage to the other room if we had been told to do so. We felt really angry at the fact that our clothes and other personal belongings were touched by people who were completely strange to us. We have already been to a couple of hostels but never have experienced such a thing.

It's a sh*t. I cannot say another thing. It's a very poor place and there are not students -- only old people (always looking at the girls). And the bathrooms are not clean and far from the rooms. I must change and go to another hostel because Olave House is a big sh*t.

Sure it's cheap, but you get what you pay for and this place ain't offering much. I definitely saw the staff clean this place daily, but its just plain filthy and run down! The owners are definitely trifling. The bed is clean but sqeaks everytime you breathe. I wouldn't eat off the silverware if I were you so that means avoid the breakfast, you won't be missing much. The hot showers were a plus but its only two on each floor and one toilet, which was unpleasantly dirty! Watch out for the mice, which the staff will tell you they're more afraid of you than you are of them!

Upside: Very nice staff, and affordable room. I called and got a reservation at Olave same day. Very close to Earls Court Underground. Clean Bathroom. Lots of Internet places, Eating places, and other stores near by. Downside: Room I stayed in was VERY Dirty. Seems like people just throw there trash on the floor, and the staff dosent clean the rooms. Common area was very trashy too.

My stay in Olave House was nice. Was a bit afraid after reading all these comments but considering the price I wouldn't even ask for more. We were staying 4 girls in 6 persons room which was in good condition. A bit cold but there was an extra radiator for us. They emptied our trash every day and the staff cleaning and making breakfast there was very nice and friendly thinking about the price again the breakfast was good: cereals, toast, jam, coffee, tea, juice. The beds and bedlinen were clean and they also cleaned the bathrooms every day. The toilets were and bathrooms were maybe not in the best condition, but I have seen a lot worse even though I haven't travelled so much. Some noise and music from "the breakfastarea/livinmgroom" during the nights, but didn't bother me. I would live there again. Specially when travelling with friends a nice place.. Location: very good! I recommend it.

DO NOT stay at Olave House! I booked this place for a week but ended up leaving after 4 days because it was so repulsive. I stayed in a room that was dark and dingy with people that smoked pot all night every night with the light on and slept all day. The carpets were disgusting, with food and cigarette butts left on them. The people who stay there are animals, and the common area looks like a dumpster with people leaving rubbish everywhere. I could go on and on. Sometimes it's better to pay a bit more for something decent.

Well, I've stayed in a few hostels in London and this wasn't the worst, beside the fact the breakfast consisted of toast and some kind of synthetic butter and cornflakes with UHT (Ultra High Temperature) milk - there was no other choice. The eating area was cramped and uncomfortable, too. We stayed in a double room that we paid plenty for, which was basic. We had one single duvet and a single curtain on the window. On the upside we were late getting there and there was no problem about that, but we were too tired to complain. The toilets and showers were very clean. To be truthful if you book a couple of days in advance you can get places as central in Earls Court for the same money with a double duvet, two curtains and an en suite bathroom. I'm not saying don't go there just look around first.
