Not a great hostel for backpackers, especially ones who want to get up early in the morning. Partying seems to go on through the night around the outdoor patio, especially with underage chileans on vacation. When we stayed there for two nights we never found any staff that could speak a word of English (or French as their sign claims!). Very few bathrooms in the place. One computer for free use. We stayed in the very tiny double en-suite and we had lukewarm showers -- that situation was not fixed throughout our stay (appears water pipe calcified although hot water temperature was also only set to 30C but was turned up with no dramatic change in our shower temperatures) and we were never offered any compensation. They claim that an adventure company associated with them offers discounts on trips, but the adventure company on O'Higgins is an empty store now with no forwarding address (and of course no one at the hostel spoke any English so we couldn't figure out if the store had moved). Apparently "Mayra" was around one day, drove in and out in her private "Hostel Mayra" van and ordered around the two female staff that live there day and night, but never spoke to any of the guests. There are many other hostels and homestays that can be booked online, go for those first.
