The Hostelz.com Review
Nimbin Backpackers (Granny's Farm) is a laid back hostel that fits in well with the slow lifestyle of Nimbin. Notorious for its marijuana culture, Nimbin attracts a unique set of like-minded travellers who do not anxiously seek the next wave of tourist excitement. These are the types of people you will find at Nimbin Backpackers and the atmosphere follows suit.

Just a 5 minute walk from the center of town, the hostel is well kept and spacious. The large dorm rooms have several beds and are equipped with air fans because they are not air conditioned. Also, travellers have the option of staying in a dorm room fashioned from an old train carriage.

The hostel is just outside of town in a picturesque rural setting and also hosts campground sites. It has a TV lounge, two swimming pools, a pool table and a small kitchen. The hostel owners have a relaxed approach and will accept payment for the rooms upon departure. As well, the owners will occasionally have free wine available to its guests. If you can't find anything else in Nimbin to entertain yourself with, there is a theatre located across the road from the hostel. Generally speaking, this is a good standard backpacker accommodation.

Best little spot in oz
was only planning on staying for a few nights but like most people ended up staying for a month. people there were the best ever, like my second family except we all got stoned. highly recommended if you want to get a feel for what life in nimbin is really like. it's even got a platypus in the creek.

We only stayed for one night, but I ended up loving the hostel, and I'm not even a stoner! The staff were the friendliest we've had in Oz, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The camp fire at night was a treat! Only drawback was that the kitchen utensils were a little dirty, and the chopping boards smelled of damp. Beautiful views from just outside our room made the hostel a memorable place to stay.

It's clean, with good facilities, and the traveler who was working there was friendly enough. However the security is very lax, there are no lockers available, and the security cameras appear to cover the office but not the dorms! And the thieves seem to know that too — they managed to avoid the cameras. After being assured that everything was completely safe, I had my backpack stolen from beside me during the night. I was just lucky not to lose my wallet and car keys. This was on the first night! Other backpackers complained of having things stolen. The owner dismissed this as people getting stoned and forgetting where they put things. This seemed to be a pretty slack attitude by the owner.

This is the best hostel in Australia. The staff are amazing. I went, planning to stay for a day, and ended up staying for a month. Visit hanging rock nearby; the owner will take you in his minibus.

We just had one afternoon there, and it was nice to talk to the Greek girl and the guy who had been working in Thailand. Peace and grass!!

I was a little skeptical at first, but this ended up turning out to be a nice hostel. The kitchen was very clean. The bathrooms were also clean. The free wine (happy hour) was great.
